My Death Contract

Meredith woke up the next morning to her alarm and before she even opened her eyes she could feel a headache about to split her skull. She groaned, then took a breath and opened her eyes. The room was much dimmer than she had expected.

Meredith blinked a few times and realized she was looking at some sort of sun shade over the window in front of her. She didn't even know they had a sun shade on the window. She didn't know that there were any window dressings of any kind in the condo.

She was thankful that there was because with her head as it was she could only imagine how much worse it would have been. Meredith sighed and sat up and lingered at the edge of the bed contemplating going back to sleep.
