Meredith closed her eyes for a moment. In the darkness behind her eyelids she heard her panting in rhythm to the thumping. She felt it travel her whole body as if the thumping was pounding some sort of strength into her core. Her skin was damp from her sweat, but she didn't want to stop.

She opened her eyes and puffed out a breath as she looked out at the city of Chicago. Her feet continued their rhythm on the treadmill and her timer on her apple watch went off and she started the cool down, going from a sprint to a brisk walk.

Meredith pulled a deep breath in and let it out slowly. She grabbed her water and as she poured the cold liquid in her mouth the previous week flashed through her mind. She saw herself dancing in the snow, eating sword steak, running into Mizuki, going down the hill.
