She had a dream about Seth that did not leave her mind and drove her close to insanity, making her do things that shouldn't be done.

CONTRACT WITH THE DEMON PRINCE

[Something must have happened], Alys thought. [I am sure of it].

She sneered at the way Ceri Binner walked out of the queen's chambers with her shoulders high and a stupid smirk on her face. The lady was proud and there was nothing in the world that would make Alys like her again. Alys had seen her the day she and the king had been strolling in the gardens. She had even heard that the king had gone to greet her dying father and thinking about it now, Alys' stomach churned.

"Arrange some pillows behind me", Queen Zyne said to Alys.

She quickly moved and got to where the queen was and did as she was told. The queen's eyes were closed and she looked disturbed. Alys had been with the queen long enough to know when something was disturbing her mind and she thought if it would be wise to ask her mistress.

"My Queen, is everything alright?", Alys asked.
