"Let's go to wherever you're talking about," Mabon said exasperatedly. Somehow, he was glad that he didn't know who Taff was talking about. Mabon wouldn't have been able to handle another bout of bad news. He shook his head as he went ahead to handpick the men who would follow him and Taff to dispose of Thress' body.
When they got to Rudy's farm, the place had been ransacked and looked like it had been deserted for a long period of time. Smoke was still emitted from some of the items in the place especially inside the main house the owner lived in. Even as things had been destroyed by the fire, it seemed people still checked for things that they could take for themselves.
"This is sad," Taff said.
Mabon just looked around standing in one place. He didn't have the strength to do the searching Taff was doing. He just wanted to drop the body and get it over with. The commander was tired both physically and mentally and had not felt that way in his life before.
