The Traces of Lia's Life

Lia's complexion paled, between shock and fear. "I'm not dead yet. I'm completely alive," she said, confused and blank. But somehow she seemed to realize that the words spoken by Rany's grandmother were true. That she was half alive.

Rany's family house was made of teak wood, a type of joglo house, which was always filled with wooden pillars and an elongated roof. Teak wood designs and carvings lined up everywhere as if they were true collectors.

Cindy glanced at Rany, asking the girl to answer. But Rany seemed to raise her hand, gave up. Instead, she casually strolled into the kitchen to make drinks for her friends, as well as her boss.

"Where are you going?" Cindy whispered demandingly, but she got no response except for a very brief glance from Rany.

Now they were frozen in the room belonging to the old woman, whom Rany introduced as Granny White. Everyone in the village called her that because all the hair on her head was white.
