Chapter 4 : Another strange dream

Silver's POV

I woke in the middle of nowhere and all I saw was fog and nothing else. I walked forward not knowing where to go when I stumbled onto something. I looked down and saw an old leather book. I was about to open I when I heard someone coughing. I followed the sound and ran fast to it. I stopped when I saw someone's back facing me and was coughing and sobbing at the same time. I recognize that back somewhere. I walked closer slowly and stopped in surprise when it said something that sends me shivers to my spine and in a very familiar voice.

"Silver, I'm sorry. Yuan is sorry. Please come back. I won't do it again I promise. Wake up, please." He pleaded. He turned at me and I saw his eyes, even his sclera, was black. He was crying but instead of clear tears, they were black. I fell to the floor when he spoke again.

"Silver, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to." He said. I felt my blood drain when I saw a corpse on the ground lying in front of him. It was me. But how? I am here and I am alive. I was about to say something when I felt the book was shaking and calling my name.

"Silver! Silver!" It called onto me. I looked at it and felt the whole place shaking. I looked at Yuan and saw him still crying and facing my dead body. I crawled closer to him and was hoping to grab him when the floor opened and I fell in darkness. This feels like deja vu. I was expecting to wake up in my bed again like before but to my surprise, I was floating in the darkness. Then I heard a voice, a woman's voice.

"Not everything you see is what they are

like a wolf dressed as a sheep

Safety is still very far

Be aware when you go to sleep

Beware of their deceiving smiles

As a white crow can make you look like a fool

Up ahead, there are many trials

Where your intelligence is your only tool"

After that, I stopped floating and fell further into the darkness. I gasped and breathed heavily as I felt heavy sweat falling down my face. I saw Yuan looking at me, with normal eyes now, looking at me worriedly. I looked around noticed that we are in the car and that we stopped at the side of the road.

"Silver, are you okay? What's wrong with you? Were squirming and sweating so much. I stopped at the side and tried waking you up. Did you have a nightmare?" Yuan asked checking on me. I couldn't speak properly as I was catching my breath. He gave me a bottle of water and I drank the whole bottle. When I manage to get my breath, I looked at Yuan.

"Yuan, where are we? Where are we going? What's going on?" I asked him first. I wanted to answer him but I was really curious about what was going on. I thought carefully to remember what happened before I fell asleep. That's right, I was at his place and told him about what happened to the park. He gave me a pill which puts me to sleep then that's it. I looked at him and frowned waiting for his answer and was slightly mad at what he did to me.

"I'll explain everything later. Let's find a place to sleep first then we start talking, okay?" He said. I just nodded. I had no other choice anyway. We are in the middle of driving and it will be an inconvenience for others and who knows, it might take us a while to explain to each other.

Yuan continued driving till we find ourselves in a hotel. We went to the reception desk and rented a room for a night. We took the elevator and went to our rooms. I jumped onto the bed exhausted and was about to sleep when Yuan pulled me to sit up. I groaned and looked at him. He just chuckled at me and started talking.

"Look, I know you are very tired and so am I. But I need to hear everything tonight. Now start talking and you can go back to bed." He said. I looked at him first and started talking.

"After I fell asleep, I woke in the middle of nowhere I only saw fog everywhere. I was walking around till I saw an old book on the floor. I was about to open it when I heard someone coughing. I followed it and saw you crying and saying sorry to me. Your eyes were all black, even your sclera. I saw my dead body in front of you on the ground. You keep saying sorry and said that you didn't mean it. Then after that, I woke up." I explained. Yuan was quiet and seemed to be thinking. He looked at me and asked.

"Is there any other things or details you saw or notice?" I took a minute to think. Then I snapped when I remember it.

"Your clothes," I said. "You wearing a uniform. So was my dead body. I was wearing a collar and yours was on the floor and it was broken. That's all." I said. He walked to our bags and grabbed his tablet. He was typing there and then looked at me.

"What about your dead body? What were the wounds like?" He asked after typing. I stopped and think trying to remember what it was.

"I had, I mean, it had few scratches in arms and my clothes were mostly torn. My legs had a big wound and it was bleeding really bad. I was also pale. There was also a stab wound in my stomach area. Your left was covered in blood." I said. He typed everything I said on his tablet. He always does this when something unusual happens to me and my body. He takes down notes and checks on me every time it happens. Even the dreams I have, he always takes note of it.

"Ok, anything else that happened in your dream?" He asked again after typing.

"Oh, when I was about to wake up, The book was shaking and was also calling my name. Then the ground was shaking and I fell in, just like my dream the other day. I fell into the darkness and was expecting to wake up but I was floating in the darkness and I heard a woman's voice saying something to me. It was a warning saying that someone will be pretending nice and take something from us." I explained. He jotted it down and looked so serious. He puts down the tablet when he was done and caresses my cheeks.

"It's getting late, Silver. Let's go to sleep for now and continue this tomorrow. I know you're tired so get some rest." He said and tucked me in. I want to protest and I know he won't be going to sleep immediately, but I was too tired to do so. He caresses my hair till I fell asleep. it was a habit of his to do that and I grew up getting used to it. Every time he does that, I always find myself falling asleep and had a peaceful sleep then. I fell asleep soon while he was caressing my hair and his worried mile was the last thing I saw before going into a deep slumber.

Yuan's POV

When I notice that Silver was sleeping peacefully, I fixed him and kissed his forehead. I grabbed my tablet and a pillow and headed to the couch. I saved the notes that I just wrote and marked them with a date. I turned off the tablet and place it on the table beside me. I looked at Silver again. He looks so peaceful but I know something is bothering him.

"Don't worry, Silver. Just like I promised when we were little. I will always be your big brother and I will always protect you. I would never hurt. All that happened in your dream will never happen, I tell you." I said to myself looking at Silver. I lost my family once so I'm not losing them again. I protect what I care about and love in this life. Even if it means the world will be my enemy.

I fixed myself and went to sleep on the couch.

Third person's POV

As two lads slept peacefully in the dark, Yuan's tablet suddenly lit up without anyone touching it and was glitching. Then the screen turned black and a message appeared.

'Found ya'

It said then turned off again.
