Out of town

Using his vanishing raindrop steps, together with his unbalanced stat of 45 in agility, Ryu managed to escape from the town successfully.

However, with ten enemies behind, Ryu continued running through the forest, not daring to stop until he found a place where the trees formed a narrow space, a very good spot to fight a large group as only one man would be able to get through the turn.

But when Ryu looked back, preparing to receive the first fighter, the only living thing greeting him was a small ferret climbing on a tree. An awkward silence fell over the forest as Ryu and the ferret stared at each other, neither of them not understanding what was happening; Ryu did not know why no one followed him, and the ferret why the crazy man suddenly stopped to stare at it.

Not letting his guard down, Ryu scanned the whole surrounding with his enhanced eyes. Afraid that some of the highvale could have some special skill to pass unnoticed and land a death attack as soon as Ryu lowered his defense.

Three minutes later, as no one appeared, Ryu calmed down a bit and walked over to the ferret with a portion of dried meat extracted from his ring. The small animal signaled that it would run, so Ryu stopped, placed the dry meat on the top of a branch, and backed away, making room for the ferret to approach.

'Why did no one followed me?' Ryu asked himself, but before he could put some thought into the question, the system greeted him with a message.

Despite the name that marked the piece as a boot, it looked more like a martial arts training shoe, but the material used to make it was unknown, but clearly rare and very expensive, and had some white straps with inscriptions, forming an elegant pattern.

Excited to test his new acquisition, Ryu sat on the ground, removed the shoe he was wearing, and put the new pair, which he enjoyed the look and style. When he was admiring his new footwear, the ferret got down from the tree and rested on Ryu's shoulder, as if admiring the shoe together with him.

"Have you finished your meat?" Ryu talked to the ferret, but no answer came. Instead, the ferret stood on his shoulder, looking at him.

"Okay, let's first distribute these stat points and check what is happening in that town." Ryu spoke to the ferret while opening his system. At first, he had the idea of distributing the stats points to make his build more balanced, but as he gained combat experience, his style developed, which gave new ideas on how to distribute the points.

Thus, Ryu spent two points in agility, three on dexterity, and one in focus. "I hope master won't scold me for putting so many points in agility and dexterity, but we haven't spoken about it actually." Ryu talked to the ferret.

"Okay, let's take a check." said Ryu, pushing the ferret to the ground. Next, he put another piece of meat on the floor and raised, and went back to the city's board, leaving the small animal behind.

As Ryu walked along the forest to reach the city board, not daring to go back to the same place that he had just fled, he was marveled at how little noise he was making. Aside from an occasional snap from a branch, there wasn't any sound coming from his steps.

A surprising scene appeared before Ryu's eyes as he reached the edge of the forest and saw the city. The first thing he noticed was that the blockade at the exit he picked was not the only one, but almost every exit in the city had at least one man watching it, and the second thing was a large number of people wearing gray robes flying above the city.

But the most shocking was none of these, but the smoke rising from three different places in the city and the noises coming from it. Explosion-like noises erupted throughout the city, revealing a riot in the town, the noise of houses collapsing, and even in the distance, Ryu could hear the screams of the frightened residents.

'At least I know that all of this is not because of Nura. I hope he is fine.' thought Ryu, analyzing the extension of the fight and concluding that Nura could not be the one responsible for causing it.

Not knowing what to do, Ryu found space behind a bush where he could see the city and stay relatively out of sight from someone looking from the town. He was worried about his friend, but he couldn't get into the city and check it out on his own, and as the exits were blocked, Nura couldn't leave either, leaving Ryu with no options.

So Ryu decided to wait until the turmoil resolved in hopes that the siege would be lifted so that he could return. Ten minutes later, the sounds coming from the town ended, but the people flying above still persisted, the same with the people closing the town.

While waiting in the distance, Ryu saw people trying to leave the city, but the highvale member prohibited the exit, sometimes relying on violence to repel the villagers back.

Two hours later, the intense move on the city slowed down, the siege on the city persisted but with much fewer people on watch. While his worries increased over time, Ryu began to get an urge to try and sneak into the city, but he was conflicted about the danger.

As Ryu pondered his next action, a squick came from his back, drawing his attention. Turning around, Ryu saw a ferret, which came close to Ryu and stopped beside him, looking out over the city as if contemplating something. This strange behavior from the small animal scared Ryu a lot, thinking about its intelligence.

Since the night was about to fall, Ryu decided to retreat to the forest and camp for the night until the next day, when more options could appear. Along with Ryu, the ferret that had been following him everywhere since Ryu fed him, even when he spreads a bag on the floor to sleep, the ferret chose a spot in one of the corners, laid down, and began to sleep.

Annoyed with the audacity of the small animal, Ryu thought to push it away, but he gave up on the idea and went to sleep himself. In the first ray of light in the morning, Ryu woke up and realized that the ferret was gone.

So, Ryu returned to the city, only to see that there were still people watching the entrance. Before Ryu could start feeling dejected, a sound of leaves shaking draw his attention to behind, and when he turned to see, the ferret appeared another time.

But unlike the other time, the animal came carrying something in its mouth, which it approached Ryu and dropped the thing on his hand.
