Chapter 23 Vergo

Sera: " Why do we need to wait for before we go in."

Paul: " Hmm Intuition? Haha, it doesn't hurt to wait right? Did you guys grab Caesar before he fell into the ocean?"

Robin: " Yes, however, we don't have sea prism chains to hold him down."

Paul: " hmmm put him in chains and then hang half of his body into the sea."

Sera: " Hey isn't that a little cruel?"

Paul: " Hahaha, it's not that cruel. We're not drowning him, just keeping him in sea water so he won't be able to use his devil fruit."

Sera: " well... okay."

Caesar: " You fools, do you know who is backing me!?? Once they find out about this, your little crew would be finished."

Paul: " If they find out about you."

Caesar: " You dirty pirate. Just you wait."

Paul: " Throw him in already."

'splash'

Like this, they waited for a few days hiding near the island. A day later, the crew saw a marine ship arriving on the island.

Sera: " It's just a marine ship, Paul. We waited this long for this?"

Paul: " Do you know what Punk Hazard is?"

Sera: " No."

Paul: " It's a facility that belonged to the World Government. It was used by the genius scientist Vegapunk and Caesar which they worked on creating weapons and testing drugs on criminals. Caesar created a mass murdering weapon which is deemed illegal by Vegapunk. Caesar got upset and set off the weapon which is what we saw earlier which caused the scientists to flee the island. Although he was capture, he escaped. Why do you think he returned here. He has the gas-gas fruit. He is a scientist that helped create weapons and drugs. This island seems like it has already been abandoned by the world government. I wonder what that navy ship is doing here."

Sera and the crew thought about Paul's words. Why was a navy ship here.

If Paul's thoughts were right, this should be Virgo bringing Caesar 'sick' children.

Not long after Paul said this, the navy shipped docked on the island. A man with shades and a lollipop stuck on his cheek walked out. What followed behind him were a group of children.

Mocha: " Vergo-san would we be cured here?"

Vergo: " Yes I am taking you to a doctor right now to get you looked at."

Not long after a beautiful woman with white wings and swirly glasses came out.

Monet: " Virgo did you bring the children?"

Vergo: " Yes. Did Caesar already take care of the gas."

Monet: " Yes, however I haven't seen him since, but he already made the 'medicine' so we can administer it right away."

Vergo: " Alright, take the children. I will go look for him."

Monet: " Right this way children. I'm a doctor so I can take a look at you once you are inside."

After seeing Monet and the children go inside, Paul: " Robin take Sera inside and steal a medicine for her to look at. Daz and Vlad bring Caesar and come with me."

Nodding their heads, Robin and Sera sneaked inside the the laboratory where Monet had taken the children, while Daz and Vlad went to go get Caesar.

A few moments later, Vergo was seen a bit far from the laboratory location and was aimlessly walking deeper into the island. He soon stopped and looked behind him.

Vergo: " You can come out now."

Paul: " So you knew that we were following you. Aren't you pretty strong."

Vergo had only sensed a few people following him but now that he saw the person, he was surprised but who he saw.

Vergo: " Aren't you Paul, captain of the Chaos Pirates. What business do you have with me."

Paul: " Oh it's nothing. When I arrived on this island I saw Caesar and knew that he had a bounty on him and probably escaped Impel Down so I brought him to you since I saw you arrive earlier."

Vergo: " I see."

Caesar: " V Vergo, help me."

Paul smiled when he heard that. " Help me? Why would you say that? Isn't he a vice-admiral in the navy?" Isn't Caesar supposed to be a genius. Crying for help from a navy-admiral is completely blowing Virgo's cover as a pirate.

When Vergo heard Caesar's plea for help and Paul's mocking tone, veins started to pop from his forehead. However, he tried to play it off.

Vergo: " I see, thank you for your assistance."

Vergo walked towards Paul seemingly with no intent to battle and only to grab Caesar and send him to jail, but then he appeared before Vlad who was holding Caesar and launched an punch towards him.

Vlad was already prepared for battle so he blocked the punch that was coming towards his face. Seeing that his punch was blocked, Vergo jumped backwards gaining distance.

Paul: " Ohh~ what's this? Why did you attack us when we are only trying to help."

Vergo: " I believe your bounty is higher than his. Why don't I take your head too."

Paul: " Mph you can try. Vlad how about it. He is a Vice-Admiral so he should be fairly strong."

Vlad smiled: " Sure, I want to test out my new devil fruit and sword too without holding back."

Paul wanted to fight Vergo away from the children because Vlad's devil fruit ability... well it looked pretty much like what a villain would have to children at a young age. If he wants to help those children and want them to trust him, then Vlad's power should be hidden from them.

Before Vlad entered the battle, He took a bite off of Caesar's neck sucking some of Caesar's life force. Vlad then began to transform as he grew slightly bulkier and looked more ominous. His ears also grew long like a bat and grew fangs. His eyes turned red and looked like he was evil.

Seeing the transformation, Vlad knew that this opponent was strong. From out of nowhere, he took out a bamboo and coated himself and the bamboo in haki.

Seeing the iron-clad Haki, Vlad smiled. He drew his sword and instantly appeared before Vlad slashing towards him. Vergo blocked the attack easily with his bamboo stick. They then clashed several times. They clashed in the air, and appeared in several places during their battle causing echoes with their clashes. Swords and bamboo clashed several times. The two then appeared several meters apart in the air, both of them out of breath.

Paul could tell from their state that their fight would end soon.

Vlad's body started to emit red aura and was soon covered in a red shroud. The red shroud began to cover his body then a dark shroud enveloped the sky. The dark shroud rushed towards Vergo. Vergo pushed his haki to his limit and the two dashed forwards with their greatest move. 'swoosh' The two were seen on opposite sides.

The two were silent for a period of time until Vlad fell from the sky. However, he landed on the ground with his feet. 'puchi' Blood sprouted from Vergo's body as he fell to the ground bleeding. His Haki became undone as he laid there passed out from the damage.

Paul: " Well done Vlad, how was your opponent."

Vlad took his sword and looked at it seriously, " He was strong. If I my haki was just slightly weaker, than I would've lost the battle."

Vlad then sheathed his sword. This opponent was very strong. Coming out to sea and traveling with Paul, he had already met someone else that was challenging. Vlad grew slightly excited about the thought of getting stronger and stronger as their travels continued. Then he would perhaps be able to rival his father and beat him. One step at a time.

Paul nodded his head in acknowledgement. Vergo is indeed a strong opponent, however, Paul's strength and gaining chakra control, Paul had more potential in attack power as using chakra will empower his moves and body even more.

Paul went to his body and checked for a den den mushi. He quickly found a den den mushi with a pink shade on it. Knowing that it belonged to Doflamingo, he ringed it.

Doflamingo: " What is it Vergo, why have you called?"

Paul: " Vergo is gone. You are next."

Doflamingo: " Bastard, who the hell are you. What have you done to Vergo."

Paul: " I am Paul from the Chaos Pirate. I also got Caesar. Looks like your future plan would be ruined by me. Hahaha."

Doflamingo: " hahahah hahahahaha. Very well then, Come I will be waiting for you at Dressrosa." 'katcha'

Paul: " All right then, now that that was settled, let's go see where Robin and Sera are at."
