Chapter 110: One Punch to Dominate
***
Kaido was shocked, confused, and angered. Looking at the dark blood he had just coughed out, he knew that Max had done something. It was another one of his opponent's cowardly tactics.
Glancing back at Max, he saw the smirk that expressed that he had guessed exactly what Kaido was thinking.
"Amongst many poisons that I contemplated using when fighting against you, only a handful of them would be able to hurt someone of your caliber and specialties. Even fewer types of poisons I would be able to administer during a fight." Max said, rubbing his head to wipe the blood off it.
Crack! Crack! Crack!...
His skull cracked and mended itself as he had some reserve milk in his stomach. It was routine for him to always eat and drink things that would help him regenerate during a fight.
Today hadn't been any different. Max didn't know how long he could last against Kaido in a fair fight and eventually he would lose his ability to quickly regenerate due to the lack of nutrients in his body. At best he could only hold his regeneration for a day or two.
After those days would have passed, the fight would develop into something Max hated… it would become a fair battle.
Max loathed such a thing because it meant that he didn't know which side would win. He wasn't willing to bet his life on these things. Gambling with his life to him was something only crazy people did. He couldn't understand the people who did it.
Kaido straightened himself up and wiped the black blood off his mouth. The Yonko's anger slowly subsided and he went back to being calm.
During that time, neither attacked, Kaido knew that angrily attacking Max would lead to devastating results against the Yonko. Max too wanted to heal his head that had been hit twice by Kaido with two full-powered bashes.
Once again Max felt that feeling of calmness enveloping his opponent. Kaido won't be put down through poisons so easily.
Even though the toxin he used would kill normal people even if 1 nanogram was ingested. Kaido had a handful of the toxin ingested in him, but even then it would take time to put him down.
Fwish!
Kaido flapped his draconic wings and charged at Max within a split second was in front of him and Max used his ax to clash against him.
CLANG!
The sound of metal clashing rang out, but their weapons didn't even touch each other.
Max closed his eyes and an image of Garp punching appeared in his mind. It was something he had tried to copy and he knew that he was now stronger than Garp physically and their Armament Haki should be around equal levels. Yet the old man's punches when he went all out were hundreds of times… possibly thousands of times stronger than Max's punches.
'So in the end, only in a battle like this would something incredible be able to develop.' - thought Max.
No matter how hard he tried, he had never been able to copy Garp's punch even though he had seen the man use it many times and had the whole attack memorized.
He even knew how his Haki moved when it hit someone as he had been hit by the punch a couple of dozen times.
Max pulled back his ax as Kaido went for another smash and this time Max used his fist.
BOOOOM!!!
The air around them crackled. Their attacks split the sky, but Max wasn't satisfied at all.
He clashed a dozen more times with Kaido and even threw away his ax to concentrate on fighting only with his fists.
Bang! Bang! Bang!...
"Damn it!" exclaimed Max in annoyance as he couldn't use the punch he wanted. But his demeanor still was calm as he had to use Observation Haki and not disrupt his future sight.
Suddenly something strange happened as Max saw the world around him stopped moving as he concentrated all of his Haki on his fist. It seemed like time had stopped, he couldn't even move the rest of his body and the world turned dark around him.
But not even a split second later, that feeling was gone, but to Max, it felt like an eternity. Finally, he felt like he had seen the road, that punch that Garp threw when he was serious.
That same punch that had competed with Roger and Whitebeard's Quake Power.
Max was happy at this, but Kaido frowned.
The Yonko felt something strange, his opponent's whole demeanor and sense changed, now Max felt like he had just gotten stronger.
"Weapons are things that break," mumbled Max as if he had come to a realization. "Only one weapon will always be there with you. My fist, as long as I grow stronger it will grow stronger with me. It will never become weak enough that I have to change weapons."
"What are you whispering to yourself about?" Kaido inquired mockingly.
Max chuckled in response, and looked at Kaido's serpentine eyes. "What do you think happens when your punch is strong enough that it has the potential to destroy the world?"
"The hell are you talk-"
Fwish!
Max's body disappeared and within the next instant he had charged at Kaido, he had used his huge Emperor Form to kick off the air and midway changed back to his human firm that was much smaller and seemed like a small child in front of Kaido.
Though this tactic had increased Max's speed so much that he even surprised Kaido, appeared within his close range without him being able to do anything. This also meant that since Max was in his human form, only one hit from Kaido would be enough to put him out of the fight. The second hit would kill him if it landed.
To anyone else, it would seem like a dangerous move, a gamble. But Max never gambled.
BAAAM!!
Kaido felt a punch hit his chin, Max's punch in his human form would barely hurt even if he used his Haki, the damage wasn't anything Kaido would worry about.
*
But this time it was different as Kaido felt his jaw crack and dislocate itself.
*Crack!*
He tilted his head slightly to the side, just enough to have Max's punch not hit its target completely, and that saved him from a broken jaw.
'What was that?!' – Kaido wondered as he put his jaw back with one hand and swung his spiked bat down with the other. But his opponent jumped back like a flying frog and dodged the attack.
"Oh~ so I must use Haki on the wrist too?" Max muttered casually and looked at his wrist that was bent so far toward it that it had broken like a twig.
*Crack!* Setting his wrist in place and clenched his hand, it felt… usable.
'This will take longer to heal.' - thought Max as he stared at Kaido. "Let's keep going, I can see it now."
"See what?" Kaido frowned.
Max smirked. "I can see that once I learn this, none of the Yonko will be a challenge anymore. You will no longer be someone worth fighting after this. So try and develop during the fight, or else I will give it my all and kill you here."
Though he said that, Max knew it wasn't the truth as the Yonko fought differently. Having strong punches was good, but not being able to land them made the attacks useless. But he tried to agitate Kaido a bit more.
"Don't get too arrogant brat!!" Kaido yelled as lighting clouds started surrounding us and the sea below us churned up.
Tsunamis that would swallow islands came up, but none of them could touch us because we were too high up. Like Gods looking down on the world.

A/N: Max can be very persistent when he wants something. Also as the reader, don't take what he says as fact, as Max is a liar that says anything as long as it confuses his enemy.
