Chapter 23

The familiar beeping of hospital machines, June's sweet perfume and the memory of what happened gave Neo a clue of where she was.

"Reports all over the coastal areas of the continent say the oceans are raging," Neo heard Jack say. "Weather experts can't explain what's going on."

"Mom?" Neo said. She hoped they could hear her over the oxygen mask on her face. "Dad?" She attempted to open her eyes. June and Jack hovered over her. Her vision was a bit blurred but she was happy to see them.

"Hi," June whispered while wiping her tears. "You're in the hospital," June kissed Neo's forehead. She still had the family markings from Odunda on her skin and doctors wondered what it meant. June and Jack lied saying they were tattoos she's had for a while. Luckily Dr Langa was on leave or he would have known it was a lie.
