Chapter Fifty-two - Deacon

Purity rubbed at her wet hair as she made her way to the front door, someone’s incessant pounding already giving her a headache and ruining the calm that filled her from her time with Deacon last night. He had left her alone, promising to bring her back the best breakfast sandwiches in all of Dark Moon Falls, assuring her it was the best way to start the first day of the rest of their lives. He had been all mushy since last night, acting like a love-struck teenager. She had just giggled as she watched him walk out the door, and then she decided it would be best to clean up, since they had both gotten pretty dirty last night. She giggled again at the memory as she slid into the shower, basking in the air of peace that surrounded her that morning.

That is, until the banging on the door rattled her. At first, she just stood there, paralyzed with fear that Damien had found her, her feet rooted in place as she stared at the door, the wood vibrating from the person’s pounding.
