Faeries are real. That was hard enough to stomach, but now, they’ve drafted Rhychard Bartlett into their way. At least they gave him a sword. A sword for crying out loud! Everyone else has guns and magic, and the Guardian only gave him a glowing sword. Some men strive to be heroes. Not Rhychard. Not even a little. Rhychard just wants t go home and propose Renny Saunders. However, a blood-curdling scream changes the course of his life forever.

Surrounded by a two-and-a-half foot ellyll, a 300-pound coshey, and a street hooker, Rhychard squares off against the demon, Vargas, to keep him from building a Gateway to the Nether, still with nothing but a glowing sword. As if that wasn’t tragic enough, Renny thinks he cheated her on her and has kicked him out on his backside.

Needless to say, Rhychard has had better days.

Warrior of the Way

Rhychard rushed into the basement, the Guardian Sword held protectively in front of him. Halafarin was right behind him, followed by Kree, Famallumi, and Fitz. As soon as the Warrior entered the room, he heard the familiar jingle of bells as Tryna popped into the room, dagger ready for battle. The first thing he saw when he entered the basement was Renny standing in a ring of black stones, wrapped in what appeared to be coils of electricity, her body jerking in shattering spasms. Her mouth was open in a scream that seemed silenced. Pux, the gnome who promised to protect her, appeared frozen in motion just outside the circle and neither of the other gnomes were visible. Trace stood facing a dark elf, dagger in hand, ready for battle, while a woman, which Rhychard assumed was Giselle, sucked the blood from a dark elf with her elongated tongue.
