Faeries are real. That was hard enough to stomach, but now, they’ve drafted Rhychard Bartlett into their way. At least they gave him a sword. A sword for crying out loud! Everyone else has guns and magic, and the Guardian only gave him a glowing sword. Some men strive to be heroes. Not Rhychard. Not even a little. Surrounded by a two-and-a-half foot ellyll, a 300-pound coshey, and a street hooker, Rhychard squares off against the demon, Vargas, to keep him from building a Gateway to the Nether, still with nothing but a glowing sword. As if that wasn’t tragic enough, Renny thinks he cheated her on her and has kicked him out on his backside.

Needless to say, Rhychard has had better days.

Until they had answers, there wasn’t anything else for the witches to do but wait, not an area where Laci excelled. Once she had reached Jayden, her sister filled her in on everything Laci missed while she ventured into in the Summerlands. Not only had the next demon come through, possessing Wanda, which Laci could not prevent, now both took refuge under the Harbor City Causeway waiting for the other demons. Demons now possessed two of the five witches, and Laci wanted nothing more than to return to the Summerlands and rip Baltabek apart. She sighed as she stared out her sister’s passenger window. She tried doing just that, and the only thing that happened was Baltabek tossing her around like a rag doll while sizzling Rose with his red coils of power. Laci had failed, and because of her failure, a demon now controlled Wanda. She simply made the situation worse. Perhaps it’s a good thing, then, that I’m giving up on being a witch.
