Renny heard the screaming and picked up her pace. So far, the gargoyles ignored her as she made her way behind the downtown buildings to where the others fought the demons. She did her best to move quickly and as quietly as possible, sticking as close to the buildings to stay out of immediate view. Pux and Drimzie weren’t to be seen, but she knew that didn’t mean they weren’t there with her. More than likely, they were in the ground right then, pacing her.
She neared the corner of the strip of stores when she heard Tansy’s wail. “Alex, don’t!” Then a squawk from above stopped Renny short, causing her to press herself against the red-brick wall. She jerked her gaze upward to see a gargoyle stretch his leathery neck out over the edge looking for her. Great, Kree must have left the roof. She took a deep breath and started to edge her way down the side of the building.
