Kayla felt her body stiffen under the goddess’s touch, felt Chaos’s power start to slip inside of her, twisting around, searching. But for what? Kayla tried to squirm out of the other woman’s grasp, but Chaos held on tight.


“Wait!” Edward screamed, staring at Marcus’s corpse a moment before turning to face the goddess. “What are you doing? What are you talking about? Pulling the darkness from her. What does that mean?”


Chaos released Kayla’s arm, standing once more with a sigh. “Demons possessed her in the past. One spoke through her, and another actually took over her body. The witches may have eradicated the demons, but the creatures left behind a residue of darkness within the girl, making it easier for another to possess her in the future.” She shrugged. “That darkness will act as a bridge.”
