Kayla watched as Chaos turned, grinning. “Oh, silly girl. We dampened your magic for now. You don’t think we’d allow you access to power, do you? That would have been stupid of us.”


“How do you summon this darkness out of her?” Edward asked, casting a quick glance at Marcus’s body before stepping around it and moving closer to Kayla. “What will come out of her? Can you control it?”


“Control it? I won’t need to control it,” Chaos said with a chuckle. “It’ll know exactly what it must do on its own.” She squatted down next to Kayla who did her best to squirm out of the woman’s reach but to no avail. “Now, if you’re through pestering me with insignificant questions, I need to get on with this before we waste your poor magician’s sacrifice.” She reached out and gripped Kayla’s arm once more, growling. “I’m so going to enjoy this.”
