Chapter 39

Liam had left this morning. I was proud of myself. I hadn't cried until after he was well inside the airport and couldn't see me. I didn't know how he'd wormed his way into my heart and life in three measly days, but he was now an integral part-another part that was missing.

"How does this not bother you?" I couldn't figure out why Hayden wasn't as disturbed by Liam's departure as I was.

"I talk to him every day, Callie. He's my boss. I don't care if he's here or there. Nothing changed for me. Although I am curious about what changed for you?" Her look asked exactly what her question had suggested.

If I had to deal with this every time Liam's name came up, I might have to shoot her. "We clicked. He's a great guy. What can I say? He's like a male version of you."

She cut her eyes at me but kept driving. "He's into you, Callie. Be careful with his heart."

"Oh, stop it. He is not. We're just friends." I dismissed her with a wave.
