Chapter 37

Liam was the last person I wanted to see-much less hang out with-and for the life of me, I couldn't figure out why Hayden had thought this was a good idea. The two of us being alone, in my living room, was awkward at best.

I sent Hayden a text, which she conveniently read and ignored. Surely, she wouldn't stay gone all afternoon. Tripp would need a nap, and she could intervene in this horrible bonding session on the couch. With nothing to do to pass the time, I relented and began to get to know our guest.

"Do you frequently make house calls, Liam?" I raised my brows, giving him a smirk. I was trying desperately to be playful, but it was the furthest feeling from my mind.

"Actually, no. I typically just send our lawyers."

Eww. He was not good at this game. Mr. Sourpuss needed to sweeten his disposition back to the guy who wanted to borrow our pullout sofa.
