Chapter 55

Liam left the next morning and flew back to New York for a couple of days. He'd told Hayden he had business he had to handle, but I knew the reason he was gone, and it was crippling. I'd caused him to leave. After everything he'd promised me, in the end, he'd done just what Davis had-left.

By the time he had returned three days later, I couldn't wait for him to get into the house before I bombarded him. I ran to the driveway the moment I saw his car and then yanked open the door to pulled him out. Clearly, he was confused, but I didn't give a shit. I hadn't spoken to him since he'd walked out, and I couldn't handle it. The abandonment had been worse than when Davis had left. It wasn't rational, but the feelings assaulted me with a brute force I couldn't withstand.
