Catherine really wished the fae would stop calling her that.
Perfectly poised, Loïc narrowed his hellish yellow and black eyes. “Give up.”
“Never.” She jabbed her glaive into the earth and leaned on it heavily. “I’ve come to face you.”
“Face me?” He laughed, his face full of pure hatred. “You can barely stand.”
“If you hate me so much, why did you lure me to your realm?”
“I didn’t. I’ve detested every second you’ve been here. I hate humans. I was already taking your power, and I would have had it all by now if you hadn’t come here, even with the protection magic you burned into your flesh. In fact, as soon as you passed the threshold from your realm to mine, the process slowed.”
“Give me what’s mine,” she demanded.
“I am a king.”
