Reborn As An Akatsuki

My heart did not stop pounding as I walked quietly behind Itachi. I don't know what the hell happened back there, and the words I uttered makes me want to curl up in embarrassment. But most importantly, how am I going to explain to Itachi about Sasuke?


Although I also know he's my only ally in this place, the only one I can trust, I'm still shaking. One more stupid move like that one back there, and I'll end up killing both of us. I have to- my thoughts were broken off as I bumped into his back. Before he could pull away and face me, I clutched his cloak. He paused.


Gripping the fabric with my hands, I knew he could feel me shaking. I had to open my mouth, but I couldn't stop. "Who are you?", he asked, plainly. I took in a breath. "But that's not the question you want to ask me, is it? " I said and leaned against the passage wall.


"What you want to know is how I know about Sasuke. And please don't waste the Mangekyo's power on me. I'm not your enemy."


"That still remains uncertain," he said, his calmness was startling.


"Itachi," I said, but my voice was broken. Something about the way he said it crushed my heart. I understand his reaction, but it still hurts to see.


"Though our ideologies may differ, I am proud of you Itachi" I quote Fugaku's words, and see him flinch.


"Are you reading my memories? There's no way you could know-" he started, but I cut him.


"Itachi Uchiha, the double agent. The sole annihilator of the Uchiha clan. Your relationship with Shisui. How much you love Sasuke." i say, as I sink to the ground. My eyes start tearing, and my voice breaks. "I know everything about you, and I don't know how or why. I think- i think I loved you as a person" i sniff out and put my head in my hands.


"I don't know how much to tell you, because i may end up influencing the future but-"


"I'm going to die, yes?" He asks and his calmness enthralls me. I shut my eyes, hoping my tears will end.


He leans close to me and holds me. "I don't know anything about you, and yet you spill your tears for me. I understand why you can't tell me anything, but I hope you will make a small exception." I stop shaking in his embrace and pause to hear him.


"Will Sasuke have a good future?" he says, and if a person can laugh through their tears, that's what I did. "Always looking out for others, you're my hero ya know," I say and hold him closer. "Yes, in the end, he even has a daughter, who dreams to be Hokage one day." I can feel him smiling, and I loved that man more than I ever have at that moment. I smiled and wiped my tears off, and scowled at the passage wall. "Come out, Zetsu. I know you're here."


"Why are we even bothering with her?" said Kisame. "She could be playing with us for all we know, there is no way to confirm her words."
