I hesitantly got inside Sir Mitchel's car after I got discharged. I kept telling him that I can go home by myself but he insisted on driving me home. So I accepted his offer and followed him to the parking lot.
"Where to Catherine?" he asked as he got inside the driver seat.
"Its okay sir Mitchel. Just to the nearest terminal." I said to him and he turned to look at my side.
"Just call me Gavin. Its already pass working hours. And like I said, I'll drive you home. Its already too late and we don't want a repeat of what happened earlier." He reasoned to me, so I reluctantly told him my address. We drove through the city quietly, but I just can't suppress my curiosity.
"Sir? I mean Gavin? Thank you for lending me your shirt." I hesitantly said not knowing how to start the conversation with him. He covered me with his shirt before getting me to the hospital because my shirt was bloody and was ripped wide open. He even had the nurses to change me into it while I was passed out. Even with the knowledge that he didn't see me in just my bra, I still can't help but be embarrassed, especially when I'm looking at him with his coat on, exposing a bit of his chest.
"No problem Catherine." He simple said to me while still focusing on the road.
"About what happened..." I began, fidgeting with my fingers, not knowing how to continue the question.
"I already took care of that security guard. He's currently at the police station with my lawyer.
Actually, I also need to talk to you about that. Do you want to press further charges against him?" He asked as his eyes were focused on the road. I continued to stay silent as he suddenly stopped the car.
"I need to pick something up here. Look Catherine, I'm not forcing you to press any legal charges against him but if it was me, I would definitely want to. Just think about it okay? We need your go signal to start pressing charges against him and lock him up." I nodded in response to him and he opened the car door.
"Wait for me here, okay? I won't be too long." He said getting off the car and locking it in the process.
His words rang in my mind as I waited for him. I do want Luigi to get locked up, but I also don't want everybody to know what he did to me. I just don't want to be the center of gossip. I know I shouldn't be humiliated because I was the victim, its just, I know how people react to everything. No matter what you do, even if you're the victim, they still find some way to shame and blame you for what had happened and I don't want that to experience that again, not after what I've been through with my family.
"Here." Gavin said as soon as he opened the door, passing me a brown paper bag while getting in the driver seat.
"What's all this?" I asked peeking inside the brown bag. There were wound cleaning supplies, bandages, tape and the antibiotic Caleb prescribed to me.
"You heard what your friend, the doctor said." He said to me as he started driving again. I couldn't help but smile at the hidden thoughtfulness of my boss. He started opening and closing his mouth like he wants to ask something but hesitated on it. Makes me wonder what could he possibly want to ask me?
The whole ride to my apartment building was filled with utter silence. I guess the two of us don't really know what to say to each other. He stopped the car in front of the building and I took a deep breath before speaking up.
"Gavin, I want to press charges against Luigi. I know I'm not in the position to ask a favor from my boss, but I'm going to ask anyway." I said, then looked at his side waiting for his reaction. He nodded at me so I continued.
"Can this stay just between us? I don't want anyone else to find out the real reason why I got hurt. We can just say that I cut my hand while I was cooking." I said to him and he just nodded, giving me a smile, letting me know that he understood.
"Don't worry. we'll handle this discreetly. And, oh, before I forget, take the rest of the week off and come back on Monday." He said that took me a bit by surprise.
"But, I still have to do the revisions for the comic. Not only that but I also have things to do for the other projects that I'm in." I reasoned with him.
"I'll do the overlooking. I'll just tell the team to send me all their finished works, then I'll do the revisions. For your other projects, I can't remember anything that has a deadline this Friday, other than the project we are working on."
"Are you sure its okay, sir?" I asked again, still troubled by the amount of work I'm going to pass onto him.
"Yes, I'm sure. Now go home and get some rest and I'll see you on Monday." I nodded to him and said my good night before getting out of the car. I watched him drive off through the night before heading inside. I feel sore all over. I went straight to my room. dropping all the things I had on me and then I noticed my phone at my bedside table.
"So, I did left you here." I mumbled to myself as I flop down on my bed. I opened my phone and saw that Matt had left me a couple of messages.
{Had a crazy day today.}
{Hey! You okay?}
{Did anything happened?}
{Get back to me as soon as you can. I'm worried.}
I can't help but smile as I read those messages. I can't help but catch feelings for this man. I just wish I had the courage to face and meet up with him. I immediately composed a message for him.
{Sorry. I just got home from work. I actually left my phone at home. Can you believe it?}
I hit send and waited for his reply, but I guess I was too tired and spent that I drifted off to sleep immediately after closing my eyes.
Just like what Gavin said last night, I took the rest of the week off. It take a whole lot of explaining to the team, but they understood my situation and let me off the hook easily. I can't say the same when it comes to Andrea though. She kept on pressing me about the matter, and I do plan on tell her exactly what happened, she's my best friend after all.
I spend the whole day sorting things out at my apartment, I never had this much time on my hands before so I ended up doing a general cleaning. It was already six o-clock when I finished and was about to call for a delivery when my door bell started ringing.
Confused on who that could be, I opened the door and I was greeted with Andrea's smiling face as he was raising a plastic bag with take out. I smiled at her and opened the door wider, letting her in.
"What have you been up to?" she asked and I just groaned at her.
"Just cleaning the whole apartment. I got so bored." I said to her as we sat down on my carpet laying all of the food that she got on my center table.
"Oh gosh! You really weren't kidding when you said your hand was sliced open." she said to me taking a good look at my bandaged hand.
We had our dinner together as I told her everything that happened last night. Including the charges that Gavin would help me with. She just stayed quiet the whole time, waiting for me to finish.
"Gosh! Are you really okay Cath? Do you want to go to a therapist?" She asked but I just shook my head.
"I think I'm fine. I don't really want to talk about over again. And I honestly don't want more people to find out. So please don't tell anyone about this, specially your parents. We both know that they tell my parents too." I said to her and she just nodded.
"Luigi has always been nice to you, but I never thought that he was psycho." she said, still in total shock.
"I don't know, I always felt weird around him. Honestly, I've always thought that he was a bit creepy I was just so shock that he'd go that far. How can he get fixated on someone who looks like me?" I said to her.
"But you know what's more shocking?" she asked and I suddenly became so curious at what she was about to say.
"Why and how did Gavin know that you would be there?" she asked maliciously, bouncing her eyebrows up and down.
"Maybe because of all the ear shuttering screams I made." I jokingly said to her, really not knowing what to say, but then she dropped a bomb on me.
"Maybe Gavin has a little crush on you Cath."
