Chapter 43

The pain from the cuts was nothing compared what Reyna felt in her heart. The organ hurt as if was being stretched apart. She couldn't escape it, no matter how many times she shook her head or closed her eyes, he didn't leave her alone. The blood had formed in small dots on her palm when she bent down to collect the glass.

Oblivious to the initial pain, Reyna had thought of how beautiful the red was against the light background of her skin. He appeared right then, whispering truths Reyna didn't want to hear. Sometimes he was the dead boy and sometimes he was the demon prince. Reyna couldn't tell them apart anymore.

You should have ran little girl, I wouldn't be dead if you had. They would have killed you instead.

You have not gone far enough child, or are you waiting for me to catch you? Do you remember what I said I would do to you if I did?
