Chapter 46

The walls were closing in, they wanted to hold him in, to cage him. Miran had to get out, to run until he was as far from them as possible.

"Miran, come back here. How dare you walk out on..."

The door had already closed behind him but he still found the walls even on the other side. He wasn't far enough yet. His grandmother wouldn't come out and shout at him, she wouldn't want ruin either of their images in front of the servants and guards. As if he cared about his image. He wanted her to run out and tell him it was all a joke, that she would never agree to such a thing but she didn't. 

Miran was now assured that his grandmother was gone and he was left with a demon willing to sell his very being. He had never felt more alone. 

"My lord, are you alright?"
