Healer

Dev couldn't find any other earning ways even though he extended his search by a few days. He had no choice left but to become a healer. He only had enough coins to pay rent for two-week.

He took the risk and posted a notice outside the Inn, paying a copper coin per day for the advertisement. He put his treatment charge high, ten silver coins per treatment.

It has been three days since Dev posted notice. Not even a single being came for treatment. He also got lucky a day before; when he found out about the crystal, he found it in Marmot's body.

Those crystals were called Demon cores, and their foremost use is for meditation. Dev didn't need the crystal, so he sold it for one gold coin. This gold coin was much needed and appreciated.

As soon as he learned about the healers, he began researching them from anywhere he could find. He also asked Rose and Serena for information regarding this.

Just now, an Elf caravan entered Kajiya. The convoy included more than a dozen individuals. Several of the convoy's members were injured. The convoy's owner was named Carl. He looked middle-aged and was a male Elf.

He was a merchant, and he was traveling in the convoy because he trades weapons made by dwarves. During travel, a Level 2 beast attacked their convoy. His caravan had no Level 2 beings, but they had about ten Level 1 intermediates, one Level 1 peak, and some initial Level 1. Despite winning against the beast, they lost four of their convoy members. However, their horror was not over yet; they also encountered three peak Level 1 beasts. The fight had been going well until his son got attacked by one of his opponents. He became enraged and started fighting without regard for himself. His rampage finally caused the convoy to end the battle by killing the beasts.

As soon as Carl entered the city, he began looking for a healer, but he could not find one. He was about to lose hope when he saw an advertisement about a healer in Chandramaas Inn's room 317. The notice cost Dev a silver coin a day. After he read the announcement, he ran toward the inn, identified the room where the healer was staying and rang the doorbell.

While playing with Lily, Dev heard the doorbell ring in his room. He hoped for the person on the other side of the door to be a patient.

He opened the door and saw a middle-aged Elf standing at the door. The Elf looked in a hurry. Before he could speak anything, the Elf asked him nervously, "Are you the healer from the notice?"

Dev nodded in response to Elf's question. Carl sighed in relief after hearing Dev's confirmation.

"Please hurry! My son is seriously injured," Carl said and hurried him to move.

Dev didn't dare to wait. He rushed toward the convoy with Carl.

"You read about my treatment charges, right?" Dev wasn't sure whether the man had read about the charges or not, so he asked.

Carl shook his head and said, "I didn't have the time to read the whole notice. But, you don't have to worry. I'll pay you as much as you want."

Dev took a breath of relief after hearing Carl. He will still save the boy even if Carl won't be able to pay him the appropriate amount because he wouldn't let any innocent die if he could save them.

They finally reached the location where the convoy was staying. Dev felt sorry seeing so many injured people. A young Elf who didn't look older than 12 years was sitting and crying while some convoy members were trying to calm him down. His leg bones could be seen. His face was pale due to the pain.

Dev didn't just stand there. He went up to the boy and gently said, "Don't cry, you're going to be fine."

The boy didn't calm down at all, Carl couldn't bear seeing his son cry, so he coaxed him, "Don't cry son, see I've brought you a healer. He'll defeat your injury. After you're healed, we'll go and eat whatever you want."

While Carl was coaxing his son, Dev started transferring Prana to the boy's injury. Carl shut up seeing Dev treating his son. He was looking nervously at Dev, his heart was on the edge. His nerves started relaxing, as the Prana began working, and the boy's injury started healing. As the injury was healing, color was returning to the boy's face.

Carl was stunned, seeing the color returning to his son's face. Healers could only heal the injury, but the body will still feel pain, but here his son's injury was healing as well as the pain was lessening.

His nerves finally relaxed after seeing the treatment work. His whole body was aching. He was on edge about his son the whole time, so he forgot about his injuries.

Dev stopped treating the boy after his injury was healed. He smiled at the boy, patted him on his shoulder, and said, "Aren't you a brave boy?"

"Thank you sir for saving my son! I don't know how to repay you," Carl said and bowed down to show his respect, he then rushed to hug his son.

Dev didn't speak anything to disturb father and son, seeing Carl and his son made him remember his father. Dev got somewhat emotional, but he didn't show it on his face.

He healed others injured after that, his Prana capacity wasn't as good as a Level 3, so he made an excuse of having something to do and told them he'll treat the others who are left tomorrow.

After returning to his room, he started meditating. Lily didn't disturb him, she was enjoying her own world.

After he left meditation, he went up to Lily, picked her up, and said smilingly, "Let's go, I'll treat you with meat today. I have earned a lot today."

His days started going by like this peacefully, he earned about two gold coins from Carl. Patients weren't regular, sometimes he'll not get any patients for days.

What he was earning was enough for him to live luxuriously, but he didn't come here to live here luxuriously. He needed to find other ways to earn fast.

He had one other problem, he hasn't been able to contact Rose and Serena for days? He was worried about them. The academic classes for the new batch were going to start in a few days.

He thought of solving his problem first. He decided to buy a clinic, as now he has more than enough money to rent a clinic. A clinic will also be mainstream, he would get more patients.

He was wandering around the city, to find a good location for a clinic. He found some locations suitable, but the price was way over his budget. He left even faster than he came.

While wandering, he came across a blacksmith shop. The shop looked active as black smoke was being released from the chimney.

Dev has never seen blacksmithing in his life, so he didn't stop himself from entering the shop.

A bulky Dwarf who didn't look taller than 1.3 m was hammering a metal, while metal was melting in the furnace. He didn't dare to disturb the Dwarf so he silently witnessed the whole process of making a sword. The more he looked, the more fascinated he became.

The name of the Dwarf was Carlos. He was so immersed in his sword making, he only noticed a freak-looking stranger in his shop when the sword was completely made.

"Hey! "What the hell are you doing in my shop?" Carlos yelled at Dev.

"Hello, master. I was just wandering around in the city when I saw your shop open, so I couldn't stop myself from entering the shop," Dev said with a hint of respect in his voice.

A smile appeared on Carlos' face hearing Dev respectfully talking to him. 'Who doesn't like to be respected?'

Dev conversed with Carlos for some time after that, he asked some basic questions about blacksmithing, and Carlos patiently answered.

He only left the shop when Carlos told him to go.
