He has been in this world for another year and six months, bringing his total time in this world to two years and four months.
It was great, he had a lot of time to fully adjust to this new life and he was enjoying it to the fullest as he allowed himself to act like a child. It honestly felt strange having to do so… but fun, it was like some kind of extreme sport but occasionally he would say certain things that would have them raise a brow, mostly when he said long sentences, or long words he probably shouldn't even know yet.
He began walking when he was one, and running wasn't far behind. All he ever did was run, so Sirius looking up and down for him as he hid was always an amusing sport. He enjoyed making things difficult for them; He truly believed he made them both reconsider their lives while they were looking for him.
It got to the point where his mother actually yelled at him, well, not directly, but rather yelled for him to get his ass downstairs if he could recall correctly. She said his full name every time she was angry at him. Which he found quite frightening at times but not to the extent of what he had been used to.
You may be wondering what Leonis was doing right now, and the answer is that he is hiding from Sirius. He wouldn't be a good child if he didn't make things difficult for them, would he?
He had his mouth covered with his hand as he tried desperately to keep the giggles at bay; he wasn't sure why he found this so amusing, it was completely stupid, but what was there really for him to do for some entertainment?
This world didn't have technology from what he's seen, well all he's seen is the house but still, there weren't any phones, no laptops, he hadn't even seen a television.
He was having a great time in this life, and Sirius has been staying longer now to make things even better.
Normally, he would stay for a few days in a month and then he wouldn't see him for weeks, which turned into months, but this time he's been here for two months. He did end up running some errands, but he was never gone for very long.
Today felt different, he could tell. He knew Sirius was planning on going somewhere else today, which is why he's been chasing Leonis around the house, trying to get him dressed. He's only trying to get him dressed because his mother told him to, and then he'll be on his way. Leonis was interested in where he planned to go this evening.
He despised this time of day—night-time. He was never able to sleep well, which was the reason for the frequent naps he would take during the day, it was just hard for him to just close his eyes and let the sleep take over when the light had gone from the sky. At times he would be able to sleep but would end up waking up during the night only to stare at the ceiling until day appeared again. He was sitting at the bottom of his Mum's wardrobe, patiently waiting for his dad to find him.
"HAHA" he heard from outside the wardrobe door, oh it seems he has found him.
"There you are, you had me running circles, you know?" Sirius said as he opened the door. He snatched Leonis in his arms and began tickling him. Merlin! he despised being tickled- Merlin? Well, it appears that he's adjusting just fine.
"You're getting heavy Leo, what have you been eating," he said jokingly.
"No! stop doing that! Let me go" Leonis shouted out getting, when would the man understand he didn't have tickles, it just felt weird.
"And I think it's just your lack of muscles; I'm not heavy at all, seeing as mum can easily carry me..." He spoke up again, this time with a smirk, a glint in his eyes as he teased Sirius Black.
In return, Sirius gasped after stopping his tickle attacks, "no muscles? Who told you that? I have plenty of muscles!" Sirius said trying to change his toddler's view of him.
Leonis just snorted, which had Sirius frowning, "Oh, Leo, you wound me so," he said dramatically as he spun him around recklessly as he got dizzy.
"I don't want to go to bed… can't I stay up a bit longer?" he asked in annoyance. In all honestly, it was just 8 and he wasn't tired, he was going to have to force himself to sleep, maybe he could make up a story scenario in his mind and hope he eventually dozes off.
Sirius sighed; he had gotten used to how he was.
"Well, you're going to bed after I change you, It's nearly 9 Leo! Your mum's going to kill me if she finds out you weren't in bed by half 6".
He's honestly stupid if he thinks Adrasteia didn't hear them running around the house, Leonis thought.
"Hmm Alright" he mumbled and buried his face in the crook of his shoulder and neck comfortably, it really was tiring being a child- he wasn't tired, yet his body was. It was infuriating- no frustrating!
Even those daily naps he took, it was mostly because his body tired after wandering around for so long. He would find some random place in the manor and curl up, closing his eyes… that was it, that was what he considered a nap, he never sensually goes to sleep during these naps, rarely. He would close his eyes and relax in the position he was, dozing off, with many thoughts in his head, it was another way to be away from both his mother and father.
After a while it does get overwhelming, just being around them, those issues he had in his past life didn't just vanish seeing as they were to do with his mental health.
Those 'naps' gave him a break from reality. It was tiring being a 'child', having to play his part as their child. He didn't want to seem weird, but he knew most of the things he did were weird seeing as Sirius made it a point to comment on everything, he did that wasn't what a normal toddler would do… stuff like talking about tax- he hadn't even meant to blurt out what taxes were for.
Sirius had just randomly started ranting about inflation, so Leonis thought it valid to give him a lesson on why inflation might have happened. He still wondered why he even did that, he barely remembers that much about the economic books he found himself reading in his past life, having found them boring.
He finally dropped Leonis to the floor when they reached his room, and he fell to the floor and sat there as Sirius started rummaging through the drawers for his pjs after not bringing his wand with him.
"Dad?" he called out for him.
"Hmm" He responded trying to find his matching top for the bottoms he found, the man wasn't even bothering to use his hands. Sirius was standing tall, his arms crossed with furrowed brows as the clothes were floating in the air. He was staring at them, seeing which one matched the blue bottoms that were already laid on his bed.
He glanced to his father's wand that was now sat on the dresser but diverted his gaze to Sirius "Where are you going?" he asked because he might as well ask right? and he knew for certain that he was leaving to go somewhere. He was curious.
"Oh, I guess you noticed I was planning to go out huh, you're too smart for your own good" He chuckled as he finally grabbed the matching pair, causing the rest of the clothes to neatly fold themselves back to where they belonged.
"Well, I'm going to visit a good friend of mine well two good friends you remember those photos I showed you… the guy with glasses and girl with red hair" Sirius continued speaking, trying to see if his son remembered.
Leonis scrunched his face up and dug deep into his mind to see if he could remember their names because he could remember their face, but the names were a bit distant, a foggy memory, refusing to clear up.
"Jameson? Lillian?" he replied hopefully, and he was pretty sure the others were Patrick and Remus if he remembered correctly but he wasn't too sure.
He started laughing, "close enough, James and Lily. I really don't know why you insist on calling them that, they're names aren't an abbreviation, Leo. Yours might be but not there's" Sirius commented, a glint of amusement evident in his grey eyes.
Leonis surged the urge to roll his eyes… He found that Jameson and Lillian sounded better and more appropriate for this world. He nearly shook his head at the name they gave their son, his father had said the boy who he would one day introduce to him was called Harry.
Bleh.
He wasn't even sure why he was annoyed with the names, maybe his mother was rubbing off on him? Yes, it would seem that would be the case, seeing as he spent nearly most of his time in her presence, she was quite the entertaining woman, since his arrival in this world she would always have something to rant to him about, he could never understand some of the terminology seeing as he was still trying to understand but he understood some parts.
Surely Harry was short of Hadrian? Maybe Harrison… Harold? Oh, heavens no- who would look at a baby and say 'Harold' unless the babe has wrinkles and greying hair.
Hadranius would be cool…
Now for some reason never had he thought this before but now he wanted a kid just to give them some cool name and this world wouldn't even bat an eye at the name because it would be considered a pureblood name if he got that right.
Nearly letting a snort out thinking of an interesting name he snapped back to reality.
He was finally dressed. Sirius ruffled his wavy hair where he laid, and he yawed to his annoyance. "Night night," Sirius said as he got ready to leave the room.
He let out a huff of air through his nose after hearing Sirius say that. He knew what it was. His mother called it 'muggly' or even 'mugglish', she had reprimanded Sirius at some point for teaching him such things, but after a while, she gave up.
He was proud of that! He knew what she meant by muggly! And mugglish! Using it from the word 'muggle'. He had first thought this world was just composed of wizards and wizards and other magical things but necessarily that wasn't the case. It was practically his old world but with a whole magical secret society, one in every country.
"And don't let the bed bugs bite" Leonis mumbled straight away of habit, then he closed his eyes ready for a story. The man had drilled the saying into his head, even though he had already known it from his past life. He would have much rather ignored the man if he said, 'night night', but the man would continue to repeat it until he would receive an answer, so he responds straight away to avoid such a thing happening again.
His eyes opened and lingered on Sirius for a moment before speaking "Tomorrow?" Leonis whispered, "Yeah tomorrow" Sirius whispered back with an adoring smile. He truly loved his son with all his heart. Sirius placed a gentle kiss on his son's forehead before leaving and whispering tomorrow once again.
The first time he put Leonis to bed by himself he had some trouble only because he enjoyed the fear in his eyes. He never gave his mum any trouble, whatever she says always goes, but with his dad it was different.
After that night a tradition started, every night he puts me to bed by himself we tell each other 'tomorrow' meaning that's when we'll see each other again and there was nothing to worry about. It's Sirius promising me he will see me again for certain.
He slept peacefully for the night after filling his head with different story scenarios- most of the night...
Sirius walked towards Adrasteia where she was seated in the living room, she looked up at him "He's asleep?".
Sirius puffed his chest out boastfully, "Of course he's asleep, he's been asleep for hours, c'mon now what do you take me for" he found himself saying.
Adrasteia just sighed, "Oh then I guess the giggling that sounded just like Leonis wasn't him then…".
Sirius chuckled nervously and slumped down beside her, "How come he never gives you trouble when you put him to sleep? Once you say 'bedtime' the kid just goes straight to bed" he groaned out.
Adrasteia let out a small laugh, "how unfortunate for you", then she took a sip from the tea she was holding. "Are you going now?".
Sirius nodded then stood to his feet, "I'm just going to check up on them".
"And you'll be back tomorrow?" she asked.
"Of course, I'll be back before you know it. Besides, I've already told Leo tomorrow"
Adrasteia smiled at that, she's become fond of witnessing their bond grow each passing day. She was happy that Leonis was happy, that Sirius could be there for him.
Sirius took the floo powder and disappeared into the fireplace. "I'll see you soon then" she whispered.
--
Adrasteia decided to stay awake and wait for Sirius, but when she heard someone in the house, she knew it wasn't Sirius.
"Where's the whore? ADRASTIEA WE'RE GOING TO KILL YOU AND YOUR HALF-BREED BASTARD" a voice screamed. She knew straight away who it was, Sirius's crazy cousin, Bellatrix Lestrange.
Her heart sank… Half-blood? Leonis was a pureblood- how did they find them? No one knew about Leonis, only Sirius and herself…. No! Sirius had promised he wouldn't tell anyone.
Her heart sank even further had Sirius told one of his friends? Were one of them a traitor?
Not so far from the Godric's Hollow house where Sirius's friends James and Lily had died was Sirius being pulled away.
"I didn't do it! It was Pettigrew he did it! He was the spy he was the secret keeper" Sirius cried out; he may have been yelling for everyone to hear but no one listened no one wanted to.
Sirius knew no matter what he said no one would listen, all this time he had thought Remus to be the possible spy, His heart sank when he realised Peter knew where Adrasteia and Leonis were.
"Please, wait!" he yelled; Remus was stood at the side wondering how his friend could have done this.
"Remus, please just listen to me!" Sirius yelled he needed someone to check on them he didn't care he was being accused of murder anymore he needed them to save, he needs to know they were safe. Harry was safe now, but he didn't even know if his own family was.
They had stopped dragging him away when Remus walked up to Sirius.
"Sirius" Remus whispered in despair.
"Listen to me. I didn't do it; I would never betray our friends- Never! I know you don't believe me, but could you please do me a favour and go to Droit Creux 112?" Remus's face scrunched in confusion, while Sirius was being p away again.
"Please, Remus! My family!" Remus was taken aback and found himself standing there. The words repeating in his head Family? Sirius and his family?
Sirius had been disowned, his brother was dead, along with his father in the same year- the only family Remus could possibly assume he was talking about were his grandfather and his mother. Yet the address he had given him was not in England…
--
"Come out come out where ever you are, we need to be other places right now!" she yelled again.
Adrasteia cast a spell on all the doors where she heard her from. Her heart was racing. She pulled her wand out and ran through the dark house to Leonis's room and started thinking does that mean something has happened to Sirius?
Leonis found himself waking up from the shaking, he pried his sleepy eyes open, is it morning already? he was expecting to see Sirius, but he was faced with my mum… huh? Why did she look-
"Leo, get up now," she said firmly and quietly. He did as she said, and frowned what was going on?
She took his hand tightly and started pulling him towards the… attic? She never let him in there before she said it was dangerous or something, that was enough for him not to bother.
She was breathing heavily, and it scared him, he wanted to know what was going on, but he was too scared to ask, he shouldn't be should he? everything is fine right? No, it definitely wasn't. She took him up the stairs to the attic.
She opened the door and pulled him inside, she let go of his hand and started throwing things out of an old-looking box. He stood there awkwardly as tall as an average 2-year-old and waited patiently he hadn't even noticed he was shaking.
She finally came to a stop and looked at him, "mum?".
She wrapped her arms around him, "Leo, I want you to listen to me, I know you're a smart boy and can do what I ask you to do" she said pulling away slowly from the hug, he nodded.
"Take this," she said pushing a cloak into his hand.
"It's called an-" she was interrupted by a laugh. "You really thought a silly little spell would stop me Malfoy?"
What was going on? He couldn't stop shaking from fear- memories from his past life flashing before him. The voice was as terrifying as his previous mother had sounded when she was drunk, and it had him frozen in place, the memories-
She quickly draped the cloak over him, jolting him out of his reverie.
"It's an invisibility cloak; I'm not sure if you understand, but it prevents people from seeing you. Please don't take it off until I come to get you, okay?"
"All right," he said quietly, shaking the feeling that nothing was going to go right, was she really going to come back if she went out there?
He wanted to say something else but for some reason, he couldn't even part his lips as he gazed upon his new mother's face.
"You have to be very quiet and sit in that corner for me, without moving," she said quietly. She shoved him in the direction of the corner and dashed out the door without another word, closing it behind her. He did as she instructed and sat in the corner. He had his hands wrapped around his legs, as his face was pressed against his knees in an attempt to muffle his audible breathing.
His mind felt so empty, nothing running through it, yet it hurt.
He was sat there in the cold, shivering from the drift of air that passed through the closed window not far from him, yet far from his reach. He felt like he was back 'home', hiding away from both his mother and father. Hiding in a corner was always his safe haven. After being in this new world of his he would have never thought, he would need to do this again.
He needed to get over it all, he was pathetic. 'You are not pathetic' the voice of his therapist would tell him whenever he would mutter it to himself.
How would he know? That man wasn't the one living his life? Why was he paying the man to tell him something that he wouldn't know? He was pathetic! No, he wasn't, was he? No- his hands clutched his head as the words repeated in his head.
When he heard a scream, he knew it was hers and tears welled up in his eyes. They just got louder and louder, yet the distance seemed to stay the same.
Another memory flashed through his mind.
'He was stood behind the wall, the door side him creaked open, just enough for a little light to pass through the opening. He was never one to pry nor investigate but he needed to know what was happening, even if he was scared. He was 11, he shouldn't be, the boy's his age should never be scared was what his father would tell him. He could hear the screams of agony-
"I'm- SORRY- STOP" the words were said between her screams and sobs.'
He shook his head at the memory, lowering his hands, he saw they weren't red. He used to have a habit of clutching his fists and without realising it he would pierce his nails into his hands.
He let out a small breath to calm his nerves, he didn't need any memories right now, at least not that one.
He shifted his face away from his legs, allowing himself to rest his chin on the top of his knees. He wiped the tears from his face, no longer crying. Barely seeing anything he could still see the shine from the tears that now coated his skin.
Taking calm breaths, he continued to stare at the droplets… it was weird, seeing it- the last time he had cried was when he had been 6, he never thought he'd find himself crying again, he had told himself he would never cry again, but there he was…
The tears had flowed out so quickly without warning, he hadn't known they would becoming. It made him slightly uncomfortable. Was it because of the body he was now in? Supposedly it was it would make sense. His mentality was one of an adult, but his body had a long way to catch up. A lot of children can't control their emotions for a reason.
He wanted her to be okay, to be fine, but as the screams continued, he was starting to think it wouldn't be a likely factor.
He covered his ears, with how loud the screams were getting, he didn't want to think of what they could be doing to her, all he knew was that it was likely being done by magic. Through the muffled sounds, with his ears being covered he could hear a voice laughing, a female from he could gather- the woman was enjoying seeing Adrasteia in pain, how could someone be so psychotic?
As he sat there trying to clear his mind, he knew for a fact he wouldn't mind if they found and killed him, but with his mother wanting him to be okay, he couldn't just do that. He had accepted death before because of what he had been through but in this new life, he was starting to enjoy what he had never had the fortune of having, even so, he was going to survive for her.
He heard a creak- the door opened, "Where's the bastard" he heard a feminine voice call out loudly, a voice similar to the one that had been laughing, she sounded excited.
Slowly he moved his hands from his ears, as he set his gaze upon the intruders, a man and a woman, the man was stood at the door, while the other strode into the room, glancing at every corner with a deranged look in her eyes. The woman was tall, with long, black hair. Her thin lips rose into a grin, her heavy-lidded eyes, staring intensely around the room.
Seeing the woman smile had his jaw clenching. Fist hands instinctively closed into a fist, he wanted nothing more than to see her burn in flames, then she could see him smiling just as she was doing after attacking his mother- the woman who cared so much about him even with how much trouble he was, the woman who helped him overcome his worries without even knowing it.
"It's fine, we need to get to the Longbottoms," A masculine voice said. He could barely see the man as the door was covering him from view, he could only see the tip of the man's shoe peeking from the door, facing the deranged woman.
"You can have more fun there" he reassured.
And just like that, they were gone, he was sure of it- they had apparated, he had seen Sirius do so before. His throat felt dry, his mind jumbled. He stood from where he was, the cloak still draped over him, brushing against the floor as he stood.
