She walked down the stairs, and saw Ethan just standing there, she looked at him without any emotion and said, "I'll read the stories, you be the lookout!" that said, she rushed down the stairs and went into the broadcasting room, she started setting up the equipment, and started taking deep breaths, she wasn't going to lose, this was her, she could do it, these thoughts formed and dissipated themselves quickly that Leah tried to numb herself to these thoughts, she listened to music and surely enough, after the recess began, she finally said, "Hey guys, I'm your host and narrator, Leah, your Head Girl too, and we've finally started our broadcast, today, will be the first day of our broadcast and we'll make sure every bite you take brings you bliss, our broadcast is called, "" and we'll share stories submitted by you, keeping your names anonymous, last week, I opened group chats and forums for all of us to connect with each other and discuss important issues, like body shaming, bullying, peer pressure, anxiety, depression in teenagers, and many other serious topics like cutting yourself, which is something a lot of teenagers do. I am not judging you, I'm one of you, that's why I can talk about it without coughing awkwardly or turning my head to the side, it is the truth and let's take it together, unflinching.
I won't lie and say that life is a smooth sail throughout, it has got a whole lot of lemons and sometimes when you squeeze 'em, the sour juice can burn your hands, or some juice could even irritate your eyes, so on this broadcast, I'll bring you real life stories, so that you can relate to these anonymous people's problems.
Here we go with our first story:
"Last week, I got home late at night, the next day was a school day, and so I was worried that mom might scold me, I snuck into my room through my window, and just as I stepped into the room, my mom switched on the lamp near my bedside, she gave me a ghastly look. I hate it when she does this, she's got no sense of privacy, she checks my phone without my permission, tries to interfere with my school and social life. I feel so tired and so I scream at her and then we're always fighting, days go and I feel like I'm dying every day, it's so hard but she doesn't understand me."
After Leah finished reading this story, the kids all started talking among themselves, they found this pretty good. "Go head girl!", Shawn yelled as he entered the broadcasting room but Leah was really serious about this and she was totally invested in her work, she did not even turn her head, Shawn felt a little embarrassed. He sat down on the sofa, and Ethan felt irritated, "Should I just blow him up?" he wondered, he was influenced by 'Lu Yan', a character in a web novel he was reading called, "My Youth Began With Him", a beautiful story, in the novel, Lu Yan is a badass woman who's really good with explosives and has got a hot temper, if you put those two things together, then you get someone who blows things up at the slightest problems, she's obsessed with blowing people up, especially ones that she despises, Ethan was thinking about doing the same thing to Shawn, he knew that the way that Leah looked at him was a little different than how she looked at everyone else. She looked fazed by his pretty face just as much as everyone, though she tired to hide it, but everyone gossiped about them in the school, Ethan was bothered by it, even though it was just a speculation, he didn't want to give her up, and he would not, so he would fight, with all he'd got.
Since, she had read out someone's story, now, as promised, she was supposed to think the situation over and give some advice.
"I think that 'family problems' and 'misunderstanding/ nosy parents' are something that we can all relate to, am I right? Clean your room, show me your phone, who is that boy/girl you're talking to, which friends are you hanging out with, why don't you just listen to me, how can you not study, why'd you go out when you have school tomorrow, ah, damn, our parens can be tricky people, however, they don't do it on purpose, let's analyse the situation here: whenever our parents want to see our phone, they usually check our social media, that's because they're worried that we might be talking to strangers on the phone, some people are crazy and they can catfish you, some people might be dangerous, they can harm you, physically, or mentally; I mean, just listen to "Let's not meet", a podcast by Andrew Tate, and you'll know the dangers that lurk in the shadows for yourselves. Leaving those things out, they also want to be aware, they don't want us to think that we're neglected by them. However, I agree that parents need to understand that we're at a stage where we wanna be neglected, as crazy as it sounds, we're holding a double edged sword though and it cuts both ways, would you feel normal if one day, you went home and your parents didn't question you, I don't think you would, instead you'd go look for them and wonder if everything's alright. That's just who we are, we are creatures of habit, we can get used to the weirdest of things, on the other side, I know kids that have parents that are too liberal, they don't bother with their children and then disaster awaits, these children are called 'troublemakers' when in reality, they just want attention, they don't realise it themselves but all they want is some love from their parents, therefore, we're all stuck in a vortex that we can't escape, having parents that are too liberal and having parents that are too strict are huge problems.
That's where my advise for you comes in, you need to rely on yourselves in these situations, even though tit's hard you need to tell your parents how you feel, you can tell them things and they won't understand it, right, after all when they try to justify things, our initial instinct is to reject their ideas, however, after some thought and opening our minds, we can start to understand them, therefore, try and talk to your mom, she definitely values your life, she must've been worried that you'd get into trouble late at night, also sneaking out is like breaking our parent's trust and then they start closing their hearts towards us, and it becomes a mess. Before, it's too late, redeem your relationship, for some kids don't have mothers and others have abusive ones. You must think about it, you're still luckier than someone, and if they can take it, you can too, you're strong enough to flip the pages, make magic. XX"
As she said this, she took a swig of water and began again, Ethan gave her a thumbs up but she was still mad at him, weirdly enough she didn't wanna be mad, sure per convention, she was supposed to hate him again, and not talk to him, but when he gestured to her, every brain cell, every impulse of hers was telling her to smile at him but instead she looked at Shawn, and smiled, and went back to work, this hurt Ethan but he knew what she was doing, when you're hurt, you wanna hurt the ones that have hurt you, it's only natural, Leah didn't realise she was breaking her own heart too, being mad at Ethan was somehow harder than speaking to a school full of students and teachers; in her high school, everyone knew her, she was the girl who had an amazing voice, was good at literally everything and was popular, something that she had been desperate for, something that she had longed for, she was basically living a dream with her perfect image, but this didn't matter to her anymore, all she now longed for was an acquaintance, a best friend, not a distant one, she had had one too many of those but a real friend, someone she could love, someone who would make her want to be kind and better, and subconsciously, she had surrendered to the fact that it was Ethan, but on the outside, she felt confused. Sometimes, the answers to our most complicated questions are right in front of us, yet we refuse to see them.
