Just Another High School Story!

Leah had tried to, but she couldn't forget the look... dared not forget the look, he had given her, that day at the dance, the words he'd said, "You're a slut!", that sentence echoed in her mind, if he'd said it even on impulse, for the words to come out, he should have at least thought about it before, that meant that instead of giving him love like she had wanted, she had filled him with hate for herself, she could not even face him anymore. She had been the bad guy, but this was still a little too much. The news of them dating had hit her like the wind hits petals, like the waves wash away the sand, and then retreat, she had not actually worried much about it until she saw them together, she did not know that seeing Ethan with someone else would make her feel so... stuffy, so jealous, she had never felt this way before, maybe she finally understood why Ethan was mad at her though, most of the times, Mindy and E were just talking, she imagined there being something even more special than what E had had with her, what she'd had with him, it felt totally crazy, and she was tired of thinking about it.

She was planning on sitting down but the coach called her back, and told her that she needed to play another game, this times she would be on Ethan's team, usually, they would have to attend these "Tournaments", where the teams were mixed, and the best coordinators were... or at least had always been, without a doubt, Leah and Ethan, the coach knew it would be a good rehearsal, and Leah could get in the mood by playing with Ethan better, he was unaware of their big 'breakup', Ethan had wanted to say no, but when the coach was talking to them together, he could help but take a good look at Leah, he still felt guilty about the words he'd said that day, yet disbelief crossed his face, she had gotten all better, and popular after leaving him, had she been holding out on him, letting him only see the worse she had, that was so unfair, he had come back to this stupid place just for her, and she had been too kind, almost too kind, he laughed at the overflowing sarcasm in his tone, and just as he was about to say no, he heard Leah say, "I'd love that!", all he could think about, oddly enough, too, was just how he had wanted to partner up with her, after he joined, they had played together a lot, and even in tournaments, but never like lovers, they had played like professionals, never teasing each other, never missing the ball on purpose, or disturbing the other, never playfully, always seriously, he wondered whether he'd ever see her smile like she loved him again, he wondered whether their love story had reached the end, before it had even begun, he had not done much of the things lovers do, with her, he had just been able to dance with her once, when he'd watched Chandler and Monica dance with each other, when Chandler finally proposed, their had been tears in his eyes, and he'd speculated the day when he would propose, of course, no meat or stuff, Leah was basically vegan, though she refused to admit it, her cute bunny headband, and plush toys could not keep her from 'Veganism' for long, he had started to change because of her too, but not being able to eat steak was the least of his concerns, he was the only one she had ever acted cute in front of, not just cute though, super cute, she had acted like a child to coax him when she had a test and could not hang out, his heart melted at the thought, even if she was busy, he was still at the back of her mind, this thought was comforting enough back then, but his rational mind suggested otherwise, he felt aggrieved sure but he was going to make sure he wasn't the only one.

She turned to smile at him, but he immediately looked away, sneering a 'whatever' while passing, and he went to stand in the centre position, the position he'd loved to give her when playing with her, beside her, obviously, he was taller and it was better because they could move like wind, he was not even talking to her though, never once looking in her eyes, as if afraid he'd be found out, as if afraid, she would find out, how could she possibly coordinate with the guy who wasn't even talking to her, she smacked her head in concern, she hoped to God that Ethan would play well, both their reputations were at stake, and the whole school was watching, talk about pressure.

The coach asked them to stop for a while though, he needed to go check a couple of things out, they could warm up, and play around, Leah was standing there when suddenly, she felt a tug on her skirt, it wasn't a tug as if someone was asking her to turn around, then she saw who it was, and of course, "Hey, hottie, why didn't you answer my texts?" A brawny guy, who looked like he worked out a little too much, the person whom she had tried to avoid all summer while running, "Agh!" she cursed inside her head, of course, he had transferred here, because he had warned he would, she had thought that of course, he would not take things that far, but unfortunately, the good in people, at least some people seems to have vanished entirely, she had done all that she could to tell him she was not interested, and would never be interested in being in a relationhip with him, goodness gracious, she thought to herself, and cursed a little more, "Hey, Erik, I can't believe that you actually transferred, I thought that you were just joking!" The 'tug' on her skirt, well, honestly, Erik was a perv, he used to bother her, that tug seemed a little too hard, was he trying to sneak a peak or something, disgusted, Leah tried to skim away, but alas, his hold on her skirt wouldn't loosen, "Let it go!" she heard herself say, he scooted closer to her, but just when he was basically about to crush her, another hand did, not a hand... a fist, Ethan had stuck his arm between them, and for the first time in so long, she heard him speak to her, while looking at her, "Our game is about to start, we should get ready!" Then he turned around to move to the centre position, he was mad at her alright, but when he saw how Erika, or whoever the douche was, he looked like a girl anyway, was crossing a line, he could not hold it in, I'm her boyfriend, he wanted to yell, he wanted to ask him why he was talking to 'his' girlfriend, but then remembered the only thing he wanted to forget, "I'm scared of you!"
