Meanwhile...
Ren was rushed to the hospital after being knocked unconscious by a strange yet beautiful girl despite half of her face being covered by a cloth. Her mouth and nose can't be seen but her mesmerizing ice blue eyes are free for all to see. Kyle and Chase burst through the emergency doors carrying a knock-out Ren on their shoulders. The nurses and doctors on-duty immediately went to action. They placed Ren on a gurney and the medic team began to work. Kyle tried his best to explain the situation on the events that occurred. The doctor took note of this and had Ren be ready for an MRI scan immediately. One of the doctors there recognized the unconscious patient, Ren. So, she stopped and dialed the number of Ren's family private doctor, Mrs. Lia Oklahama.
A few minutes later, the private doctor arrived and went straight for the OR where Ren was laying and waiting. The group was patiently waiting for the news for the well-being of their friend. Soon afterward, doctor Lia appeared in the waiting room.
"How is he, Doc?" Jun immediately asked as soon as he was her. Doctor Lia scanned the whole room seeing all the familiar faces of Ren's friends.
"I see that you're all here," Mrs. Lia stated as she removed her surgical hat, "Before anything else, I want to know what happened to the prince."
The group glanced at each other Soon after, Kyle stood up and said, "We were at the club tonight. We were minding our own business and having fun when suddenly a person, a girl, dropped from the room above and wrecked our table. The person was going to make a run for it, but Ren stopped her and began to tell the person to pay for all the damages. Then suddenly, the girl grabbed Ren by the neck and thrown him across the room that made his head violently hit the wall." Kyle finished backtracking the events.
Mrs. Lia was shocked when Kyle finished his story but she kept her opinions to herself. She was too busy processing it all she didn't hear Kyle asking about Ren's current state.
Doctor Lia cleared her throat and thanked Kyle for telling the story. After, she told them that Ren has been moved to his room on the VIP floor. She announced that Ren has suffered a mild concussion due to the impact on the head. This news shocked the group. Doctor Lia continued to explain that they have patched up the wound that caused the bleeding and bandaged his head. He will be experiencing a few headaches now and then. Otherwise, he will be fine with a day's rest.
"Can we see him now, Doc Lia?" Kyle asked concern for his best friend written on his face.
Mrs. Lia smiled and nodded, "Yes, you are free to go to his room, but he may still be asleep due to the anesthesia."
"It's okay, Doc Lia. It'll be fine if we just him. Thanks for everything, Doc." said Lucas as he smiled and left with the rest of the group leaving the waiting area.
"Yes, Thank you" Kyle added. Doctor Lia bid them farewell after accompanying the group to Ren's room. She told them to call her if there were any more problems. She headed towards her office and sat in her chair. Mrs. Lia couldn't get the story out of her head. It still boggled her mind how a normal person could do something like that. She was shocked beyond belief that a normal human has the capability to hurt, much less knock out a mighty dragon shifter. And, Ren is no ordinary dragon shifter but a Dragon Prince. The heir to the throne of the most powerful dragon empire in the world.
Doctor Lia got startled by the ringtone of her phone indicating an incoming call. She picked it up from the table and not looking at her screen she answered, because judging by the ringtone she knew exactly who it was.
"How is he?" greeted the person from the other end of the call. You can notice the worry in the person's voice when they asked this.
"He has a mild concussion which will heal in time, considering Ren's healing ability, your majesty. He's going to experience some minor headaches for a few weeks, but other than that he is going to be fine," announced Doctor Lia to Ren's mother, the queen. A sigh of relief was heard after she explained Ren's situation. Another voice came to light, this one a little low gruff, which Doctor Lia recognized belonging to the king a.k.a. Ren's father.
The king asked, "What happened? How did my son got hurt? Who is the one responsible?" Doctor Lia began to tell what Kyle had told her earlier. At the end of her story, she could hear the underlying growl coming from the king.
The sound of something breaking was heard on the other line and after the king shouted, "I will dispose of the person who dared to hurt my son!!"
"Thank you Doctor Lia for everything. Keep us updated on Ren's health." The queen sighed as the sound of muffled shouting from the king was heard in the background.
"Of course, your highness," answered Mrs. Lia before ending the call.
Just as she was about to place her phone back on her table the lights started to flash on and off for quite some time before going out completely. It was paired with a sudden power wave that resonated throughout the hospital. it sent a chill down her spine and made her body go numb. What was that? She thought to herself.
There was darkness for a few minutes until the generators started them up again. Doctor Lia puffed out a breath when her phone rang the second time whilst her beeper vibrated and beeped in her pocket. She knew that something might have happened to Ren when Kyle's name was the one that flashed on her phone screen. Without wasting any more time, she bolted out of her office and sprinted to Ren's private room. Arriving and opening the door, she was welcomed by a silent room full of teenagers with mystified expressions as they stared at Ren's passed-out body. It seemed like some of them were pushed back to the far wall across the room while others were on the floor near an overturned couch; along with a few knick-knacks and paintings that flew out of their places.
"What happened?!" Doctor Lia shouted at Kyle, as she speed-walked beside Ren, and to get the other's attention. It did the job of knocking everyone's senses but none spoke. Kyle was the only one who wasn't out of it. He approached the doctor as she examined Ren's vitals.
"We don't know." He started, "Something bright started to lit up on Ren's chest and just became brighter and brighter that's when the lights began to flash. Then this power surge blasted off when a light shone even brighter than almost blinded us all and then the lights went out. It pushed almost all of us against the wall. A few minutes later, the lights came back, I called you and here we are."
"You said something on his chest area started to lit up?" Doctor Lia questioned as she started to unbuttoned Ren's hospital shirt.
Kyle nodded, "That's right" he confirmed as he observed what the doctor was doing.
Some of the group slowly made their way towards the bed where Ren laid still sound asleep. They watched as doctor Lia opened up the shirt wider and what they saw made them perplexed. Everyone stared at the mark that magically appeared on Ren's chest. A six-pointed star was tattooed on his chest and in the middle of it was a crescent moon inside an inverted star. The moon seems to be intertwining within the star's four points. Circling the six-pointed star was a crown of spikes and inscribed within the crown were ancient writing.
The group continued to stare at it, neither one of them moved a muscle nor made a sound. Kyle was to one that broke the silence a few minutes later. "Doctor Lia," He muttered softly but Dr. Lia heard him nonetheless as they are next to each other. "What does that mark mean?"
Dr. Lia breathed in her eyes not moving from its place. She said, "I don't know, but we better alert the King right away." Dr. Lia declared as she speed-dialed Ren's father. The king answered and Doctor Lia excused herself from the group.
Reid then started to come closer towards the mark his finger now a few inches away. Jun saw the mark slowly glowed red. He was about to stop Reid from what he was planning to do but it was too late. Reid barely tapped the mark when he instantly pulled it back. He seems to have scalded his fingertips.
"It burned me!" Exclaimed Reid as he tended to his injured fingers. The group became shocked the second time as they watched the mark glow red and turn back to black. They were becoming restless as no one was able to answer the question on everyone's head. Except there is one person in the group who knew exactly what the mark means. All his years gathering information on demons and associating with some of them has lead to it, and that person is Jun. He wants to desperately tell the group what it was but the only problem is that he is sworn to never reveal any type of information relating to the demons. Because he is a half-demon himself.
Jun excused himself when his phone began to vibrate in his pants. He exited the room and headed to the rooftop. There he finally answered the call. It was his uncle. "Hey uncle, what's up?" he greeted.
The husky voice that greeted him back said, "Jun, I need you to do me a favor."
"Yeah, what is it?" he asked but he already has an idea of what it was. "I need you to compile every information on the name I'm about to say and send it to me as soon as possible." demanded his uncle.
"Okay, sir. Give me the name," said Jun as he stared at the clear starry sky.
His uncle soon answered with, "Renaldo Klein. His Caly's master--" Both Jun and his uncle said the word "master" at the same time. There was silence after that.
After a while, Jun's uncle queried, "How do you know that?"
"Because," he slowly said, "He's my friend. It appeared just minutes ago. He has the mark. The Mark of Ecoirach."
