CHAPTER ONE

On a cold winter evening in South East California, Lea was riding her boss’ black Highlander SDG-12T in a hurry to fulfill her last errand before she can finally retire for the day. As usual, California at night looked beautiful but is not appreciated due to the hectic traffic from people retiring home or just starting their work at night, it was usually busier than any time. Lea was busy admiring the city’s view when an incoming vehicle at her behind ran into her.

The Jackson’s were coming back from their little gateway and was excited how it turned out. “What a success…don’t you say, Jake?” Mark said turning to face Jake in their 2.5L Porsche

“Sure it was. Those girls were just a little unfortunate” Jake said sounding sobered. “Not my fault, we went, did it and got our dough…No need to feel sorry for them, we will use the money for a good cause. This isn’t our first, so stop feeling goddamn guilty after every fucking success; you ruin my mood you know.”

“I’m sorry, I just can’t help it, and it feels so wrong.” Jake continued. “That. Fucking. Conscience. Of. Yours.” Mark said saying each word at a time. “Those girls indirectly fed you, clothed you, schooled you, made you live this high life that fucking sperm donor couldn’t afford, so appreciate it.” Mark said referring to their father.

“…I wasn’t thinking, you are right, why don’t we take this celebration an up a notch.” Jake finally said courtesy of his brother. “Now, that’s what I’m talking about.” Mark feeling content at his younger brother reply called out to Samuel their driver “Take us to ‘SERENA’S NIGHT’, the latest one in town.” Samuel lost a bit distracted and ran into an auburn car in front.

“Ash…what the heck was that?” Lea said coming to a realization that someone had hit her boss car while she was driving it. She got out of her car after turning the engine off knocking on the windscreen of her assaulter. “Come on, out” she said with a wave of her hand.

“Samuel, what happened?” Mark asked. “My mistake Sir, I will go sort it out.” Mark shooed him with a wave of his hand saying. “Don’t take too long.”

“Okay Sir.”

“What kind of driving is that…? Didn’t you see my pointer on?” Lea ranted on thinking about the consequences of damaging the car.

“I’m sorry ma’am, I was a bit distracted, we can call your insurance company to take care of it, and I’ll confirm it was an accident.”

“It would have been easy, but sadly I’m just a driver not the owner, and my boss’ wife will kill him if he uses the insurance allowance again.” Lea continued. “I don’t know how I’ll give the Hard- Headed Michael the car without him throwing a fit. Samuel laughed. “Mister, this is no laughing matter, tell-”

“What is going on Samuel?” Jake asked getting out of the car as he stared at the beauty in front of him. “Mind telling why you have kept this beauty waiting, Samuel?” Jake said as he continued to obviously ogle at her shamelessly from her brown hair, large doe black eyes, and her full plump lips to her curvaceous figure.

Lea couldn’t stand it anymore and snapped her fingers to get his attention. “Excuse me Mister, your driver, I’m guessing Samuel -.” Jake interrupted her. “Yes, you guessed correctly.” Lea cleared her throat and continued “–has bumped my ride, cost me my time and destroyed my car.”

He smiled “Samuel must have been so excited about our deal today, let’s see what I can do” he tapped his hand on his chin while Lea was tapping her feet on the floor, before he finally said,

“Okay…It’s fixable, this is my insurance company card, I’ll call them book an appointment and you can get it done tomorrow a weekend and free of charge, also, if you want me to call your boss to account for my driver’s mistake I’ll do that too, but as for the last distress I’m afraid I can’t be of help.”

“It’s okay, you have done more than enough, and I will talk to my boss…The card?”

“Here, I already sent a message to them.”

“Thank you, not many will like to take responsibility.”

“I’m a man of action.” He checked his wristwatch, “As much I would like to continue our chat, you and I both have somewhere to be.” Lea entered the car, hurrying, long forgotten about the nighttime scenery.
