Chapter 5

They all left the meeting room going straight, and taking a U-turn to go to their Sales representative office consisting of five desks and team members. Some of her team members were already complaining about the work load when Lea intercepted and told them “More work, less talk. That way we would be able to complete the task before the deadline and have a few days off.”

“Ok, you’re the leader, what should we do first?” Mary one of the team members asked. “I want two people to go the branches of our store around and get the list of people who had shopped above $50,000.” Two people raised their hands volunteering. “Ok, that’s for you two.”

“Also, I need one person to go around with me to other stores especially ‘Julius’ and get Intel about who is the Jackson. And if we can get their contact info.” A guy raised his hand.

“Okay Jonah. Everybody let’s get moving, if you find anything don’t hesitate to call. Emily, stay here in case of any emergencies, call me.”

“Yes Ma” they all went with their files and necessities and left. After checking on other stores like Dolce and Garbs, Serena Williams and few other famous ones, they couldn’t find any information on their ends.

“Hello Mary.” Lea greeted when she called. “How is it on your ends? Were you able to get any reliable information” Lea asked. “Apart from the snobby show-off rich, there was nobody that stood out that could be suspected as the Jackson.”

“So what you are saying is you could not find out anything?” Lea questioned.

“I’m sorry Ma”

“It’s alright, we are getting the same response here, and we are going for the last shot, Julius. You guys can return back to the office then go home.”

“Ok.”

On arriving at JULIUS, one of the world’s best Fashion Industry with the best cuts, design, style and name. The designer herself was a very creative and had a lot of foreign sponsors.

“They entered looking like clients who wants to purchase something. While moving and checking out some of their goods, they asked questions about the products.

“Wow… this is beautiful, looks like it’s made out of wool but the fur consistency is been removed so it can be worn through all time of the year. A brilliant idea, don’t you think?”

“Yes Ma, you must have a good eye for things like this?” The hostess replied to Lea.

“Yeah, that’s why I come to this place.” Lea also answered trying to create a relationship with the hostess.

“We are honored to serve you, pick whatever you like. There’s a discount going on because new designs are coming soon.

“Why...yes, already? Wasn’t it out like less than six months ago?” Lea asked acting interested in the product.

“Yes’m you are up to date. But as you know Julius is a bundle of creativity.” ‘You would be proud to say that when yours doesn’t treat like garbage and sends errands’ Lea murmured in her mind.

“Anyway, thanks for the information. But doesn’t cost much?” She asked dallying to stall for information.

“Yes, but we have sponsors, who comes once every show launch…” she came closer whispering to Lea “There are some hotcakes who will be coming, so Julius gave out free gowns and tux made by herself to all staff, to look presentable, I bet they are coming for this week Fashion Week.”

“Is that so?” She picked a gown sizing it on her body for the upcoming gala since she can’t leave empty handed. “I think I’ll go with this gown”

“Yes’ m, it fits you with the wine color accentuating your complexion, the curves the right size of your hips, while looking modest at the front with a turtleneck and gorgeous with the back exposed. I think it was made with you in mind.”

“Yeah… it’s beautiful.” She went to the cashier and paid for the clothes with Winifred beside her.

“Is he…your boyfriend?”

“No!” “No!” They were quick to answer as they both turned to each other.

“Alright Ma, that will be $592. Are you paying with card or cash?” The sales rep answered.

“Card.” She said as she handed her card to her. Then they left.

She said to Jonah “I’m going home now, you too should go. We will report tomorrow morning.”

“Ok, Ma”

At the American Intelligent service Headquarters- central for information, communication, and security, has been in frenzy due to the recent kidnapping by drug lords and traffickers.

“So what is going on now?” asked the big-eyed bald chief wearing a white T- shirt with a T-baton hung on his shoulder with a duty belt.

“We haven’t heard anything from Agent A. from a while now.” One of their technicians said.

We’ll give her three more months, if nothing has been done. We will take action.” The team leader spoke.”

“Contact her immediately” The chief said.

“Yes sir.”

At home, Lea was comforting Linda as she has been doing for a week now since her arrival. After figuring out her best friend was lying and the main reason for her visit was that her boy- ex-boyfriend didn’t actually like her but it was a bet for her to fall in love for her. Not knowing how to divulge the secrets to her mum because of embarrassment, she decided to come to her – her safe haven where she knows she can be comforted and not criticized.

“Linda, what happened again? I thought we agreed we wouldn’t cry over him again.” Lea questioned her.

“No... No it’s not about Daniel… I met a new guy at the mall today, so he kinda ask me out, I think I might like him, but… what if it just a repetition of Daniel? What if I get my heart broken again?” She said hiccupping and stammering. “What if I just make a fool of myself? I don’t know. I’m scared. I don’t want him thinking I’m crazy.”

Lea just smiled “As the saying goes, once bitten, twice shy. It’s okay to be scared, to be shy, and to feel caution. But you got to live once, don’t we all? Why not say we go for it, if your heart feels safe, if you have prayed till your heart content, and then leave everything else, okay? Lea started petting her.

“That was…” Linda was speechless.

“I know I give the best advices. So feel free to go out, explore and start a new relationship without being hunted with the past that can’t hold you back anymore. Alright?”

“I love you Lea, so much.” Linda said hugging her.

“You are very much welcome.” She said as she hugged her, patting her back and smiling, before finally saying.

“I would love us to rant about your encounter with your mall guy and my day but I’m very tired now. So what do you say later?”

“Ok deal, go and rest, I’ll bring your food to your room.”
