Bent Backwards

Miss Willie picked up the phone and called Mark's office. She had been trying severally and it had not been connecting. Before the lunch meeting the day before, she had been trying to call him but had been ignored till he called her for a meeting with an acquaintance.

Her eyes brimmed with tears as she recollected how she had been humiliated and dismissed. He cancelled the deal and introduced the man sitting nearby as the person he chose as replacement.

She had almost lost her head at the audacity, he seemed like a totally different person as opposed to the generous, caring man she had been dating. His acquaintance ran a modelling agency and he had told her plainly that the deal was off.

She remembered going to the counter to order a drink and paying off a waiter to eavesdrop on their conversation, she needed to understand why he would throw away the deal.
