Turned Stones

Siri had her bath in the fancy bathroom, marvelling at how spacious, neat and well stocked it was. There were all sorts of beauty products from well-known brands and fancy towels and napkins. The bathrobe was very light and comfortable and she slowly washed her hair and dried it before leaving the bathroom.

She was grateful for the morning call from the detective who had told her the results of the forensic tests, and CCTV footage confirming that there was a discrepancy between the time of the incident and the time she was at the scene. She was told her name was temporarily taken off the suspects lists and she was nonetheless advised not to leave the country.

She wondered where she would go even if she had decided to run away. This was the only place she knew. She could not travel to her parents’ country. That was not her home. She had had her clothes dry cleaned in the hotel's laundromat. She still had to go to work.
