IRIS'S POV.
For two weeks now Amelot had been thrown into a great silence. Then came the letter from Maledoth, stating the coming of king Francis the great, his Prince and army.
Ameloth began to moan. We felt it was the end. Father himself had been so tense and Elise, well Elise was hardly seen these days.
Mother was unconsolable. I heard tales of how past wars like this had cost the kingdom dearly.
Myself I had never witnessed a war in Amelot ever since I was born. I wish I could wave a wand and make everything return to normalcy.
"Mother Morgana?"
I called to my nanny, who was more like grandmother to everyone in the royal household of Amelot.
"What is it my child?"
"Is there really going to be a war?" I asked.
"Let's not hope so my child."
"Has this happened before? How can this war be stopped..."
"Easy child..one question at a time....has this happened before? Yes it has. About 20 years before you were born, Amelot and Maledoth had a crush on some foreign goods. .
How can this war be stopped?
Well, the offended party shall come to rival kingdom and make requests. If the requests are granted, then everything will return to being normal.
But if the king and his counselors refuse to meet their demands, then both prepare for war.
The one who looses shall be beheaded and the kingdom that won will have the supreme power to destroy the kingdom or take whatever they need and leave."
I became even more frightened by this new discovery.
"Do you think it'll be difficult to meet whatever demands the Maledoths will make When they arrive tomorrow?" I asked
"In most cases, the king and his counselors do their possible best to please them.....let's pray tomorrow's discussion goes well. Now you have to sleep. And remember, nothing, absolutely nothing should make you leave your chamber tomorrow."
I frowned to that but the darkness hid it from mother. Why should I be exempted from this most important function.
I'm I not the only daughter of Lord Lucas? Shouldn't my Father's battle be mine too. Well we leave to tell the story. Whether I'll stay in my chamber is known only to me.
