"Maru..." Paris's eyes fluttered open and locked with hers.

"Yes, I am here," she answered, her hand clutching his as her worried face came into focus.

"I should go back right away, he can't win," he said, unmindful that he was covered in a bandage and that he obviously depleted his mana.

"It is over," you assured him as you smiled, trying to calm his heart.

"What do you mean?" not seemingly able to realize the fight has concluded.

"It can't be over while I'm still here. I won't let him win. I can't, Maru. You have to let me back to the arena," his resolve was unwavering as he looked at you.

"It is over. We won. He conceded the fight. Acknowledged you as the winner," you smiled at him softly.

"Why? Why will he do that?" Paris asked, his eyes glinting in the dark as he inquired.
