Chapter 18 The most unexpected news

Ethan was in his office with Alex conversing when the latter asked,"How are things going on between you two?" Ethan released a sigh and answered,"Not good. She seems even more distant. She's always spacing out ever since she came back from Blue City."

"Have you asked her the matter?" "Yes several times. But she keeps saying she's okay when she's clearly not." They exchanged glances. Alex thought for a moment and said," I think you should propose to her and ask her to be your girlfriend. And if she accepts you ask her to move in with you. That way you will bring her closer to you and also take good care of her." "And if she rejects me?" asked Ethan. "Then you ask her why. You will never know unless you try." "Okay, I will think of something."

Bella was also confused about Luna's behavior. Ever spacing out, ever sad and she barely eats food. She had grown thinner and became pale. She then thought of something and immediately shook her head saying it's impossible. She decided to take extra care of her friend because she didn't like this new her.

Three days passed by and Ethan had made a perfect plan for his proposal. He was first taking her out for dinner then take her to the roof top where he had decorated to perfection and that's where he would confess his feelings and after propose to her to be his girlfriend.

He was very nervous so in the evening when she was leaving for home he said,"Uhm Luna I wanted to ask you out for dinner today just in case you have no plans tonight of course." Luna sighed and said,"But I'm tired today Ethan I want to go straight to bed. Why not some other day?" she asked as she yawned. "I'm afraid it should be today. And I have something important to talk to you about but of course when at dinner." "Okay let's go but we should come back early."

Ethan drove for twenty minutes and they reached the hotel. Sitting and ordering, he noticed that she was pale but decided not to worry because as soon as she accepted him, she was moving in with him so that he takes proper care of her.

The food was brought and Luna had a taste then Immediately frowned,"What did they add in these tackles today? They are too spicy and their taste." Ethan wondered because to him they were the same. Luna put them aside and she only ate greens and salads. By this time, Ethan was very nervous thinking of the words he should use and how he should express himself. After dinner, the most awaited moment reached and Ethan stood up saying,"Uhm there's something I would like to show you but it's on the roof top. So let's go. Lead the way." Luna wondered what it was but nonetheless she led the way. Ethan suggested they use the stairs because he was so nervous. Luna was in front of him walking when he saw her slightly swaying but she regained balance and continued moving. When she reached the last stair, she lost balance and fell back but Ethan was quick to catch her and saw that she was unconscious. He put his hand on her forehead and realized she was burning with fever. He quickly carried her and went downstairs to his car, placed her in and called his personal doctor. "Come to my house immediately. There's an emergency." With that, he hit the road and sped off to his house.

Within twenty minutes, he had reached his house and placed her at the couch. Luckily Leah was sleeping and there were only the maids and the butler awake but the doctor had not yet reached. He called him again," Mr Carter I'm almost there." He looked at her for a moment. He removed the lock of hair that was in her face and saw her pale lips and then sighed. He looked at her feet that were kinda swollen and he removed her heels then began massaging her feet. The doctor finally reached and immediately started checking on her. He did all the necessary check-ups and when he was done he stood up saying," It is nothing to worry about. Congratulations Mr Carter, the Miss is three weeks pregnant. She fainted due to fatigue but the foetus is okay. It seems Little Leah has finally gotten a playmate." Ethan was beyond shocked and exclaimed ,"P-pregnant? That is impossible."

"It is the fact. She needs to have proper rest and also take plenty of healthy foods. If that's all I will take my leave." Ethan sat down on the couch shocked and disappointed. Which father?" "Don't pretend with me. Who's the father of that child?" he raised his voice. "Child? Which child?" Now she was getting more confused. "Don't play the innocent card with me. You're three weeks pregnant Luna. Who's responsible?" Now it was Luna's turn to become dumbfounded. Never in her wildest dreams did she think that she could become pregnant as a result of that night. Shock and disbelief was evident in her eyes and she whispered,"Who told you that?" "I just brought a doctor who examined you. Enough with your pretence. Who's the father?" he raised his voice again. "That is my business. Thank you for taking care of me. I will take my leave." She left with her eyes glistening with tears.
