Chapter 20 I really like you Luna

The next day at Carter corporations, Ethan was sitting in his office when Alex came in. "Hey is what you told me true?"he asked Immediately. "Yes Alex. She's three weeks pregnant. She had gone to her lover's home." Alex thought for a while and said," Didn't you say that after she came back she was always sad and spacing out?" "Yes so?" asked Ethan.

"What if she was raped by someone on that trip? I don't think she would have become sad after coming back from her lover. You even said that she used to have dark circles the previous nights. Maybe she failed to sleep because she was traumatized. You yourself told me that she doesn't have a boyfriend."

Ethan's eyes widened in realisation and said," It could be true. But if so then why didn't she say anything?" "Come on Ethan that's the worst thing that could ever happen to a woman. Now you expect her to say it proudly?" Ethan remembered how she left his house crying after he raised his voice at her and he said, "I think I messed up. I didn't think about it because I was so angry. What do I do now?" "You have to apologise of course and try to coax her so that she tells you but don't push her," said Alex and Ethan nodded in understanding. They both misunderstood the whole situation.

After work Ethan went and shopped lots of food and stuff for pregnant women. He also bought flowers, chocolates, gifts to show his sincere apology. He reached her house and knocked which took a while to be opened and saw that it was her roommate.

Bella was preparing dinner when she heard a knock on the door and went to open only to find Ethan Carter towering the doorstep. She stared at him for a few seconds until he spoke," Good evening. May I come in?" "Y-yes yes please come in." He entered and Bella came following after him. 'Why is he so perfect? And he smells so nice,' she internally groaned.

He sat on the couch and placed the things he brought on the table before saying," I would like to speak to Luna is she home?" "Yes she's in her room I'll inform her." She found her laying on the bed and she seemed to be lost in thoughts again. "What are you thinking about?" asked Bella. "Nothing much. I was just wondering how he will react about the pregnancy," she couldn't stop worrying since she was traveling tomorrow to Blue City. "I understand. Your boss is here to see you." Luna sat up Immediately and asked," Why is he here?" "I don't know."

With that she went in the living room to meet her boss. "Good evening Ethan," she greeted as she sat down. "Good evening how are you feeling today?" "I'm improving thanks for asking." Then came silence and Ethan said," I brought these things for you. There's porridge that's very essential for pregnant women please take it. There are many things that you will like." "Thanks a lot but you wouldn't have troubled yourself." "Trust me it was not troublesome in any way. I actually wanted to apologise to you about the way I talked to you yesterday. I don't know what came into me," said Ethan sincerely. "It's really okay. I didn't take it at heart." "I actually wanted to tell you that I would really be glad if you let me support you in this situation. I know how critical this stage is. The thing is I really like you Luna. Right from the first time I saw you, and if you accept me I promise to treat you like the queen that you are. I wouldn't mind about your past and I promise to love your child like my own."

Luna wasn't so surprised because she suspected it on the way he talked to her yesterday after knowing that she was pregnant. But what surprised her the more was that he still didn't give up on her even if she was pregnant with another man's child. She sighed and said," Thank you for your kindness but unfortunately I can't accept you. I love someone else even though he doesn't feel the same way. I'm meeting him tomorrow to inform him about the pregnancy." Ethan was taken aback by her revelation and said," If he in any way refuses to take responsibility count on me. My offer still stands. I think I should take my leave now. Have a good night."

With that he left and Bella came who was eavesdropping and she said," That man is a rare species. What do you think about his offer?" "Honestly the only thing I'm thinking about is tomorrow's trip. For some reason I'm having this feeling of uncertainty I don't know," said Luna. "It maybe because you're so worried about his reaction. But whatever it is he decides, you have me. You also have your boss."

With that, Luna went to sleep anticipating tomorrow's day. On one side she was excited about seeing him again but on the other side she was afraid of what his reaction would be.
