Luna was sitting in her office thinking about some issues. With how things were going, she had started suspecting Graham's involvement in the match which was in a week's time. It was then that she got a call and on checking, it was Abigail. "Hey Abigail, How are you?" "I'm just nervous how are you, Luna?"she asked. "I understand since the wedding is in three weeks. But I'm alright," she answered. "Okay. I have a favor to ask of you," said Abigail. "Yes please," said Luna. "I am asking you to be my bridesmaid, please," she said. Luna didn't expect it at all. Being the bridesmaid? "I- I honestly don't know," she told her. "You shouldn't worry because I intend to ask Graham to be the best man. Please," she pleaded. "Okay," she accepted hesitantly. "Thank you so much," exclaimed Abigail. A while later, her phone rang and on checking, a smile formed on her lips, "Hello?" "How are you?" asked Graham. "I've been missing you." "Me more. Are you busy in the afternoon?" he asked. "Not sure but I can fix some time. You wanted something?" she asked. "Yes. Thought we could have lunch together," he suggested. "Sure, I will be waiting for you." "Okay. I will be picking you up at one sharp," he told her before hanging up. She wrapped up her work so that she could get done soon.
She finished her work and on checking the time, she still had ten minutes to go. She went to the washroom and checked out herself in the mirror. She still felt nervous when she was going to meet him even if they stay and sleep together. She wondered if she will still feel the same way even after many years pass. She attempted to tie her hair into a messy bun but that would expose the hickey he inflicted on her neck during yesterday's night activities and she decided to let it fall so that it could stay hidden. She applied a little makeup after which went back to her office and as soon as she sat, her phone rang. "Hey, I'm outside. Take your time." She got her handbag and left her office to meet him.
As they were in the middle of their lunch, he asked," Did Abigail talk to you about being her bridesmaid?" "Yes, she did." "You don't have to do it if it makes you uncomfortable. She has many friends to choose from," he said. "I was uncomfortable in the beginning but she told me that you will be the best man and it calmed me down." "Yes, she insisted on me being Jake's best man. I actually wanted to talk to you about something," he said and she looked at him attentively. "I have an emergency business trip that I have to attend. And I will be there for a week," he told her. "When are you leaving?" she asked. "Tomorrow evening. Hope you don't mind," he said. She couldn't hide her displeasure and asked," Isn't a week too long?" "Yes, I thought about it too and that's why I came to a conclusion that this will be the last one I'm attending. My assistant will be attending the rest," he told her and she was a little relieved.
"Okay. I will leave work early and escort you to the airport," she said and he inwardly cursed.
There was no business trip and he also wasn't leaving the country. He was going to Vikram's Villa for this week until the match such that they could perfect the traps they laid out for Freddie. He couldn't do it home because Luna would find out and he was well aware that she had started suspecting him.
Luna on the other hand was sad that he was leaving for a full week but she also felt relieved because at least she was now sure that he wasn't going to participate in the match after all he was leaving the country. It seems that all her suspicions were wrong and he had really quitted car racing.
He said," Uhm... you don't need to come. I will manage." "I have to escort you," she told him leaving no room for discussion. She always admired when she saw lovers at the airport escorting and bidding farewell to each other. "Okay," he could only say. He had to think of ways on how to stop her from escorting him.
At night, she was packing his bags. She was all over the room looking for everything she thought he would need and it somehow made him feel guilty seeing the way she was all over the place yet he was lying. He felt the urge to stop her and explain things but if he did that, then there's no way she could let him do the match and so he decided to leave it. "You don't have to put many sweaters," he told her. "No I have to. It might be cold," she replied as she stuffed his travel bag with sweaters and he let her do what she wanted.
