Chapter 1

"Run!" Screams echoed around the city as the city folks ran away from the black army chasing after them with swords in hand. There were sounds of swords clashing mixed in between the screams of terror. The noises in the city made its way to a secluded area in a narrow alleyway where a boy in ragged clothing lay surrounded by garbage bags, waking him up from his seemingly peaceful slumber. The young boy, around 5 or 6, looked at his unfamiliar surroundings confusingly, having no recollection of where he was and how he got there in the first place. Just as he was beginning to explore his surroundings, the screams in the city distracted him, diverting his attention to the situation outside of the alleyway.

What he witnessed out on the city streets were city folks getting brutally sliced apart by five or so inhumanely strong and fast men in black military uniform. The other twenty or so men in black military uniform were preoccupied with fighting against men in blue military uniform, who were shouting for the city folks to evacuate to the palace. As black clashed against blue, dents and cracks were made on the city streets, which were the results of their superhuman strength and speed that defied all laws of physics.

"No, daddy, help!" A little girl about the age of 10 shouted out. Her ankle seemed to have sprained from her carelessness when running due to her panic. The man that was ahead of the girl turned back to what seems to be his daughter. "I'm sorry honey, but you'll just be dead weight if I help you. Make yourself useful and distract them for me, okay hun?" The man heartlessly said as he ran away without looking back. "No, daddy!" The girl cried out and crawled desperately towards the man who had cruelly abandoned his own flesh and blood. That was her last memory before her head was cut off from her body, only feeling, not hatred or resentment, but hope that the man that was her father would change his mind and turn back to get her and the desperation to live on.

Although it was his first time witnessing such bloody scenes, the young boy in the alleyway was not deterred at all. Instead, the young boy was feeling a sense of enjoyment from the despair of the people's faces as they faced their death and enthusiasm to join the men in black military uniform in their killing spree. However, he didn't recklessly rush out to do so as he knew that if he did, his presence would be known to the men in black military uniform and that they would instantly go after him to kill him. The young boy didn't care much about his life or death, he wasn't like that selfish father who would even abandon his young daughter to save his own life. But he knew he had to live. He was here in this unfamiliar body for a reason after all and deep down, he knew that he had to continue to live because of it.

"Noel, your name is Noel," a voice whispered into the young boy's ear. "Noel…" The young boy croaked out the unfamiliar yet familiar-sounding name. "Ahhh..!" A scream sounded near the young boy, waking him up from his daze from hearing the name from the mysterious voice. He felt that the name and the mysterious voice were very familiar, but he could not continue to dwell on that fact any further as the men in black military clothing were closing in on his location, pushing the thought back into his mind for further thought in the future.

The young boy stood up and dusted his body as much as he could, feeling disgusted by all the dirt on him yet not being able to do much about it. He looked at the city once more, before turning away and running further down the alleyway to find a hiding spot and for some food and water to quench his thirst and hunger.
