Chapter 3

After running further into the luscious green forest and feeling that he was safe enough, Noel climbed up a thick tree to rest on a sturdy branch, planning to rest first before finding food and water. As he knew he was safe for now, Noel relaxed his tensed muscles and let his mind drift off to the land of dreams, ignoring his ever-growing hunger and thirst.

Noel felt a sharp sting on his forehead, waking him up from his dreamless sleep. The moment his eyes opened, he was face to face with a raven. Noel continued staring at the raven, with the raven's black eyes also staring back at him, making it a staring contest between them. After a while, the raven cocked its head and pecked Noel again, before flying away into the dark forest. Noel continued to stare at it, looking away only when its midnight black feathers blended with the dark forest. After that, Noel began to look around his surroundings. It was night out, making the lively green trees in the morning look dark and gloomy in the dark but it didn't stop him from climbing down the tree to forage for food.

Even though he didn't have any memories, Noel still had general knowledge of what he should know and very good instincts that warned him of any danger. While he was stealthily walking through the forest and found some wild red berries, his instinct had warned him not to eat it, telling him that it was dangerous for him to eat. And of course he listened to his instincts as it was the only thing he could trust with his lacking knowledge in wild greens he could eat.

After foraging for what seemed like hours, Noel had managed to forage some edible plants and berries to fill up his very empty stomach. Although he was very cold with only thin pieces of clothing covering and separating parts of his body from his cold surroundings and his bare feet almost freezing, Noel ignored it as he couldn't do anything about it due to him not having the essential skills and materials needed to start a fire. Starting a fire in the middle of an unknown forest may also result in catching the attention of some that Noel wished would not happen.

With nothing he could do at the moment, Noel could only go back to his sturdy branch to sleep, but this time with a full stomach, before exploring his surroundings more when it's day out.
