Once everyone was done eating the food was done I noticed that the sun had begun to go down, so I decided to start getting ready to go to sleep; it seemed that I wasn't the only one, though, as the nomads had all gotten into a group and were also preparing to go to sleep, with one of them staying behind to keep watch and make sure nothing happened to everyone else.
Seeing this, I waited until everyone but the person keeping watch was asleep and walked up to him; he seemed startled that I was still awake, making it clear that he was beginning to space out.
I just signaled him to where the rest of the group were sleeping, then pointing at myself and my hammers before pointing at the jungle.
He seemed to understand that I was offering to take over, and although he did stare at me for a while, he eventually went with the rest.
It only took 2 minutes for him to fall asleep, so I just decided to cover everyone in leaves to make it less likely for any predators to come; after all, taking over the 'guard' position was only to get the remaining nomad to go to sleep.
As the system had already said, they had only recently been separated from their tribe, meaning that they were having to sleep less, in the sense that unlike in packs of 20-30 where people watching out for danger were able to easily switch with someone else in the middle of the night to make sure everyone got enough sleep, they only had 6 people.
Plus having to hunt and defend from predators constantly would eventually start to have a toll on them. However, at this point, even if a predator did appear, it would probably kill all of them before they could run away, so there was really no point in having someone keep watch.
Once all of them were covered in leaves, I did so as well and got ready for tomorrow in excitement, as I would finally be able to make some progress.
February 14, 0001:
Today I noticed that I had woken up later than usual today, thankfully though, by the time I woke up, everyone else was still asleep as they would have probably started freaking out if they noticed nobody was keeping watch and blamed the person I let sleep yesterday, which would have the opposite effect of what I wanted.
Knowing that I had time to spare, I began weaving trousers using leaves for them.
They had already been wearing the dead skin of some animal which they probably received while they were in their tribe; it was for the best if they began wearing something less likely to give them a deadly disease, plus, the smell of dead meat would only attract more predators wherever they went.
In the end, due to time limitations bright on by them starting to wake up, I was only able to make seven pairs of shorts and one pair of shoes that felt more like slippers.
Although they were nowhere near as comfortable as the clothes I wore, it was still something. Regardless I just went away for a little bit and changed into shorts before going back to give everyone who woke up some shorts as well.
On my way back, I began to think about giving them names; after all, they were still human, plus, it felt wrong to refer to them as just nomads, as I would probably end up spending 4-5 years with them.
Only after I thought that I noticed just how much my mindset had begun to change. After all, I was in a position where the rest of their lives was just a tiny fraction of what I would be able to live for if things went well (and the system wasn't lying).
I could only hope that I wouldn't start developing a sense of superiority, or things could start going downhill fast.
I was aware that there was no way for my ego not to grow exponentially since I knew of things that nomads couldn't even imagine.
Still, I was also aware that if I got too carried away, it would only hurt my progress as I would subconsciously try to prevent people from becoming better in fear that they might become better than me. In the end, though, I couldn't exactly do much more than just try to constantly remind myself of my faults in an attempt to force my ego down.
Before I began overthinking everything again, I snapped myself back to reality and tried to name the nomads. And after some thinking, I decided to name them Omar, Francisco, Jose, Daniel, Gabriel, and Carlos. With Omar being the shortest of the bunch and Fransisco being the tallest. As for Gabriel, he was the only person in the group with brown hair, Carlos was the only one with green eyes, and finally, Daniel the only one with curly hair.
"Congratulations, host, you managed to do the unthinkable and find the five most generic names imaginable for your new closest companions; you are truly an inspiration to us all :D."
'...Nice to see you are still here… You are aware that you could just stay quiet, right?'
"My thoughts are my gift to the world host; who am I to deny it such a grand honor?"
'...'
I simply ignored the system from that point on, as it was obvious that talking to it would only encourage it to continue going; plus, I was almost back to where everyone was, and I could see that they were all starting to freak out.
After a moment of confusion, everyone that was awake saw me and just assumed that I had been keeping guard for the night and calmed down.
Once calmed down, they noticed that I had changed into the new plan shorts I had made. Before they could question me as to why I changed into them, I just handed them all six pairs, pointed at everyone, and went over to the river to gather rocks; it should only take them a little bit of time to piece everything together, plus, I had to start making axes as soon as possible if I wanted to get one done before the end of the day.
