Leo

March 21st, 0001:

When I woke up, the sun was shining on my face, and I had made it through the night alive; as for the grave of the child, it was unchanged, with the flower still as vibrant as the day before. Before I left, I gave one last prayer, afterward returning to the settlement.

Once I got there, I saw that everyone was eating breakfast. When the children saw me, although there were still distrustful of me, they were at the very least no longer looking as though they wanted to hurt me. At least most of them, as the child that hit me last time, still seemed to hold a lot of resentment against me.

Before anything else could happen though, Fransisco noticed that I was back and handed a Suri bug stick to me with a smile on his face. Before I could receive it, though, the kid who hit me released a screech and began to try and stop Fransisco from giving me the food, to which Fransisco responded by still giving me the food but changing his expression from a happy one to one of questioning.

Although they certainly had a hard time speaking as they were only able to describe objects, their emotional intelligence was far better than mine, and Fransisco could tell that something had happened yesterday. It was only once the food was in my hand that the kid stopped his efforts.

After breakfast was over, instead of getting back on track working on the beds, I went over to check on the seeds that everyone else had gotten ready to sprout as I hadn't taught everyone else that they had to water them. And they had already been set up to sprout 3 days ago.

Thankfully though, as all three seed types had to be watered when setting up, none of them had died. The coconuts were completely unaffected as they were simply submerged underwater and hadn't run out. As for the avocado seeds, although they had begun to lose some water, it was not enough for them to not be able to access it anymore.

Plus, I was able to clean off the algae that had begun to grow on the bottom of some of the seeds in time for them to be saved. The problem came with the orange seeds because although, as mentioned before, they had indeed not died, they had not made as much progress as I would have expected by now, slightly lowering their chance of growing.

There wasn't much to be done about that though, so I just refilled the water cups the avocado seeds were placed in and watered the orange seeds. It was only after I was done that I went back to the tree where I had left the pile of leaves yesterday, at which point I saw that Omar was already there and that he had increased the number of leaves we had at our disposal.

From there, the day went on as usual, with Omar actually making his first passable 'blanket' which I only had to tamper with slightly to make usable. While we were working, though, I could feel somebody nearby, and when I looked for them, I noticed that the kid that hit me was slowly making his way over to where both Omar and I were.

At first, I assumed that he had come here to hit me, but to my surprise, he simply sat next to Omar and began trying to imitate what he was doing while giving me a death glare every once in a while.

At first, I was confused, but when I thought about it more, it made sense that he would look up to Omar and try to imitate him since he left with him yesterday, and Omar probably showed him everything we currently had to offer in the settlement.

Over time, he began to give me death stares slightly less often, which was a plus. And because he was trying to lean by just watching Omar, the kid seemed to be unable to learn how to weave leaves correctly, which wasn't surprising since Omar still had some problems when making a 'blanket.'

He eventually tapped Omar on the shoulder and pointed at his attempt to make a blanket, signaling him to teach him how to make one correctly. As for how Omar responded, he just pointed at what I was doing and then tapped me on the shoulder before pointing at the kid, basically just asking me to teach the kid.

The atmosphere became awkward as soon as that happened though. I was half expecting for the kid to screech as he did during breakfast, but he instead just quietly and slowly made his way over to where I was before laying down his attempt at a 'blanket' and pointing at it with a look of disappointment and defeat in his eyes.

Seeing him willing to give in to being taught by me, I didn't hesitate and slowly grabbed his attempt at a 'blanket' before correcting one of the corners in front of him. From there, I just gave him two leaves and then showing him the motion he needed to make over and over until he got it right.

Once I did that, and he had learned about the most basic thing I could teach him, he just grabbed his attempt at a 'blanket' and moved back over to the side of Omar, trying to make a new one. And while I knew that he certainly would fail on his second try, he was still bound to improve a lot.

From there, nothing else out of the ordinary happened apart from the fact that we could finish four beds today instead of just one. Once I was done, I just clocked in for the night and left everyone else to their devices. Before I went, to sleep though, I decided to give the kid a name. After all, he seemed to follow Omar around, and Omar followed me, meaning that we were bound to meet constantly.

In the end, after a little bit of thinking, I just decided to name him Leo after a friend, I used to have when I was a kid, mainly because they both acted the same.
