I was actually slightly scared of riding the boat, as although I had been on boats before, I had never been in such a small boat before, so I was slightly worried that I would be terrible at 'driving' a rowboat, not so much because I was scared of falling in the river but more so because If I didn't know how to use a boat, I wouldn't be able to teach anyone else how to do so either.
Thankfully though, the boat was stable enough, and it only took about a minute for me to get used to being on one. From there, I sort of struggled with rowing a boat for about half an hour, only being able to get a fundamental grasp on it; that was good enough for me though, as I pretty much only had to 'drive' the boat in a straight line.
From there, I decided to actually test how many people I would be able to get onto a boat while finding out the hard way that the boat could only hold 4, to still float without swaying too much, that is.
Plus, since the water moved so slowly, it might as well not be moving; I didn't have to worry about tying the boat to anything. Even after testing the number of people, it could carry, the boat had only moved a one-minute walk away from where it originally was.
I noticed that it was already 5 pm, so I decided to get a better hold of rowing a boat for the rest of the day while also borrowing Daniel to come with me and practice driving the second boat. Why him? No particular reason; it's just that I needed someone to drive the other ship to maximize the number of things we could carry to the area where the new settlement would be constructed.
As time passed, and I occasionally glanced over at what Daniel was doing to make sure that he was at the very least on the right track, I began thinking about how exactly the whole settlement building thing would work since I had to minimize the number of people that had to be all the way over there until the settlement was built so that it wouldn't take multiple boat rides to get everyone back to the original settlement.
Thankfully, since making a house once already having the materials ready was fairly easy due to the very simplistic design, at most, one only really needed three people working on houses, meaning that the other three would be tasked with the hazardous job of deforesting the area, to the same level as it was within the original settlement at least.
The plan was to use the wood we had collected from clearing the farmland initially and then transport as many wooden beams and planks as possible to where the second settlement would be constructed.
From there, the housebuilders would just start setting up as much as they could with what they were given, and some of the trees that had been cut down to free up space would be taken to the original settlement where everyone else would use them to make the wooden beams and planks needed to build the houses instead of the wood obtained from the farmland.
April 30th, 0001:
As soon as I woke up and finished everything that had to be done in the morning, I immediately got to set everything up to be making the pieces necessary to build houses and even drawing the measuring lines in the same place so that everyone would have an effortless time figuring out what was happening, and thankfully by the time I was done everyone had started to get ready for breakfast.
From there, it wasn't too hard to get everything set up, and it was only a matter of minutes before Daniel, Omar, Carlos, two other people, and I all set off to go to where the new settlement would be established. And to my pleasant surprise, we were actually able to make it there in just over half an hour.
Once we were there, I just borrowed an ax from Fransisco and began chopping down trees until everyone else joined in, except for Daniel and Fransisco, as they didn't have axes at the moment. Afterward giving the ax back to Fransisco and set off back to the settlement to get pieces needed to make a house.
Everything went pretty smoothly from there, and we were able to establish a rhythm with the only time it had to be set back slightly was when I had to get Omar and the other two people to stop chopping trees and get to set up as much of a house as they could with what we brought them.
Time passed, and we had managed to set up three houses already while also clearing most of the area needed to set up the settlement, so I decided to begin wrapping things up for the day and just go on one last trip to pick everyone there up and bring them back to the original settlement.
Once we arrived there, I could see Fransisco running towards us, and I was confused until I saw that a puma was chasing after him. Then, out of instinct, I ran up to Omar, who was basically right next to where I was and grabbed his ax before throwing it at the puma.
Since I had thrown it without being able to aim well though, although I did hit the Puma and caused it to slow down, it was not hurt to the point that it had to stop moving, eventually trying to lunge itself and Fransisco, who thankfully dove onto the ground and was able to avoid the attack in time.
Since I didn't have a weapon in hand, I couldn't do anything but run to where they were as the ax that had hit the puma was closer than any of the two other people with axes that I could still see. However, before I could get the ax off the ground, I saw that the puma had gotten back up and was right in front of Fransisco, causing him to begin running into the jungle to run away from the Puma.
