Honestly, the crib was incredibly easy to make as although it certainly wasn't up to what used to be present-day standards (when it came to its structure), it did still meet the requirements as it was a smaller version of the beds we already had, but with taller walls that had holes to make them look like normal railings.
It would go unused for now though, as both the mother and the presumed father seemed to be enjoying their time with the kid, which was fine by me since the child didn't need to sleep in a crib in the first place. Still, it did slightly worry me that she hadn't fallen asleep yet as although falling asleep would most likely be almost impossible after going through what she went through, it would still be bad for her health not to.
I spent the next two hours checking up on the baby every 15 minutes until the sun rose, and I was pretty sure everything would be fine from there on, as if there truly was a problem, it would have already shown itself by now.
Unwilling to sleep as the rest had long ago after I stopped testing my shield, I walked over to the sweet potatoes farm to see if any had begun to bear 'fruits' as by now it had almost been 8 weeks, and it would be a problem if it didn't.
Thankfully, after checking one of the plants, I was able to see 5 sweet potatoes basically ready for consumption within the roots. I was, of course, ecstatic because this was pretty much the first crop I had ever planted to bear fruits, and noticing that it bore somewhere around 5 sweet potatoes per slip, I could only imagine the amount I could get from all that I had planted.
That would be dealt with once everyone else woke up, which would probably take a while, so I decided to take a boat and make my way over to the original settlement. Once I arrived, I was greeted by a small number of people that appeared to have woken up early.
Immideintly I realized that there were arrows on the ground, mostly broken and slightly damaged, with only a couple of people still having functional arrows. It seemed as though I had forgotten to teach someone how to repair arrows in the new settlement, so I decided to do that today, grabbing all of the arrows, taking some tree branches, and making two of them follow me to the river shore where the clay was.
Honestly, I was very impressed by just how long the clay had lasted. Although the outside layer had already begun to show signs of drying up, directly underneath, it could be found basically good as new clay that is used imminently.
Like in the original settlement teaching, the two people I picked to fix arrows weren't exactly hard. Everyone awake came up to them in a seemingly questioning matter regarding how they fixed the arrows.
I stopped them from showing the others anything though, as although later when there would be more different businesses, people would be able to learn and pick which one they could start if they felt like it, now that there was only one business, everyone would try to learn how to repair arrows.
And while technically it would be a good thing for everybody to know how to fix an arrow, if they all knew how to fix one, then there would be no consumers, as there would be no need for there to be any causing for no business regarding the practice to begin in the first place and basically getting in the way of increasing trade.
Much like the last time, there was someone who for some reason offered fruit in exchange for a spot in front of the line, which I found really odd, as unlike in the original settlement, only ten of them were awake right now, so the wait would not be too long.
I suppose that it was also because of that fact that things developed differently as instead of reselling and beginning another economic bubble, nobody else really felt like going to get fruit. The only thing that was accomplished was simply making everyone aware that it could be done.
Since I did notice that arrows broke easily because of them constantly being used though, I decided to make some more, grabbing the last remaining bronze and tin that had been gathered on the first day we went mining and got to work, eventually finishing by 8 AM when everyone had already woken up.
Before I could split the arrows evenly among everyone else however, one of the two people I had taken to the mine on the day we collected all of the copper and tin we had been using up to now came up to me and offered me some tin while pointing and said the word 'trade' as I had sort of been repeating it every time someone exchanged something for something else in both settlements for a while now.
I accepted the trade gladly as it really didn't matter who had the arrows at the start as long as they eventually reached everyone to an extent. I, of course, didn't give him all of them though, only half of the arrows that could be made using what he gave me, which he didn't seem to mind much, probably because he had no idea exactly how much was used to make one.
Afterward, I continued going on my way to distribute everything evenly, but the people who I had taught how to make arrows traded a considerable amount of fruit in exchange for the remaining 17 arrows I had made, therefore creating a small trading chain, where I produced the arrows and either sold them to random people who offered enough money, or the people that repaired arrows.
From there, they would probably trade the new arrows they had just acquired for more fruit than what they had used to buy the arrows from me originally. Honestly, it was sort of impressive that they were able to do all of this in just the span of a couple of hours; since I was done with that though, I returned to the original settlement to get to work on a long term project that would be greatly beneficial if it was pulled off soon enough.
