After hearing that she had completed the mission, Camellia stopped paying attention to the people around her and was instead contemplating just how useful this thread would be to her. Would it work like spider's thread and be super hard to handle? Would it work like steel wool? Or would it take materials to make? Would it act as a weapon itself? Or would it make weapons?
All sorts of questions were popping into her head, but she didn't have to time to think of answers just yet. For now she had to focus on getting back to the smithy without running into Zeph, and hope that he hadn't already gotten back by now. She shivered at the thought of what would happen if he found out she ditched her work.
'Maybe double the work? ugh...'
She shivered at the thought. There was also the possibility of the girls(Lily) ratting her out to Zeph, but she had faith that her newfound 'sisters' wouldn't do that.
***Don't act like you're proud of them like that when you were ignoring them till now!!
'Hmm, maybe I should think about how to pay back my amazing cute new sisters for not ratting me out...'
***You don't even know if they have or not yet!
Finally getting back 'home' she decided to sneak in through the backyard, where she saw a small hole in the fence before near the scarecrow like dummies. The loli that was now covered in soot, dirt, wood shavings and many other unknown globs of filth from sneaking around, decided to huddle in a corner near the furnace and finally asked Mona about her reward.
'Miss Mona~ may I please have my reward now? I've worked very hard you know~?'
***Although she is 100% and orphan right now?
'Right! I'll clean up afterwards! No problem, I love being clean!'
***Lies. -Lies.- [Do not believe him] {No.}
***You actually believed her?! -You believed HIM?!- [YOU believed him?!] {Humph}
After the goddess said this, Camellia felt a slight headache followed by a bunch of information about how to manifest and create her own thread. Before the information was even done filling her mind she had already started gathering items and moving things around in preparation for the 'Ceremony'
Camellia didn't answer and instead continued to make preparations for her 'life changing moment'.
'DONE!'
Saying this she sat cross-legged on a table in front of the dimly burning furnace surrounded by bones, strong wood and hide, grinning ear to ear while licking her lips.
"Thread time baby!!!"
Suddenly a large light emitted from right below her chest as a strange pressure was being emitted. Her hair suddenly started to float and her clothes started to flutter as the light got stronger.
"Agh!"
She suddenly coughed up a mouthful of blood as the light only got bigger and stronger, now growing to be the size of her chest.
'It feels like my chest is gonna be ripped apart from the inside out!'
***Ooh, angry Mona, quite rare! 12 points!
***right... sorry...
<*sigh* Whatever, I'll help you for now, but expect a punishment later! For now you need energy, that's why you had to get all these materials, although you were supposed to absorb them over the course of a few months AT LEAST.>
'Energy? Right!'
Throughout every beast based isekai there was a trope that returned more times than not! 80% of the time this trope was present! It was the absolute cheat skill that saved protag-kun every time without exceptions!
"EAT!"
As the light only got stronger and brighter, she started to greedily devour all the bones, wood and processed hide around her.
She couldn't hear her over the sounds of the bones and wood crunching that shook the inside of her head.
Although Mona called her an idiot, this way of going about it was still unbelievably efficient! It was no where near as efficient as if she had simply been patient and listened to the goddess before starting, but it got the job done!
The light that came from her ribcage suddenly started to get smaller yet brighter and brighter. As a tail suddenly emerged from Camellia's back, the light turned into vein like lines that made a trail leading to her tail, then up her back and neck, branching out to her shoulders and hips.
The bright white lines burned her skin and insides as if there was lava in her blood.
'More... energy?'
The excruciating yet starving expression on Camellia's face looked up at the furnace slowly as she started to crawl towards it with a twitching grin.
'This time I'm the hungry one, got it ya' bastard?'
As she finally managed to place her left hand on the ledge of the forge, the ever-burning flame flickered, as if it had been called to by name.
"Big sis Camellia, you ok?! We heard a loud-"
Rushing down the stairs, the two girls looked painfully at the cursed sight in front of them. They saw chips of wood and shards of bone scattered about on the ground, there was hide with large pieces missing from it and all of it surrounded the back of a shivering and slightly twitchy, hunched pink haired girl with a small lizard like tail sitting atop the forge.
"Cam... Camellia?"
The girl trembled slightly as Junjun grabbed her pant, fixing her blue patched hat to shade her eyes.
However, the nightmare didn't stop for them, as they could see her head tilt back, as a glowing white hand, covered in vein-like lines that resembled lightning raised above her head, holding a dimly burning flame as if it was a newborn puppy's neck. Slowly bringing it above her open mouth.
From their view it was as if a demon had been placed before them, stripping away what little they had left. The beautiful pink haired girl that was called their sister was now draped in sweat, emitting a bright glow, surrounded by the remains of materials they had to use to survive for the next few months. All the while, she was about to eat the fire that was left behind by their savior's past wife, that had been burning for eleven long years. The fire that gave them warmth and money on the table.
"Don't..."
As Lily lightly sobbed, Camellia simply dropped the fire into her mouth, swallowing it whole, only to puff out a cloud of smoke.
The whole house suddenly emitted a pressure that would be akin to an earthquake. The house violently shook as the loli grabbed her chest in pain. The lines that covered her body started to get thicker and brighter, slightly changing colour to a deep soot-black. After the veins had completely covered her skin, it simply started to shed off, raising into the air from the openings of her clothes only to gather into a black mass in front of her, stealing all the soot from the furnace in the process.
The mass then stopped emitting light as Camellia put out her hands in front of her, retracting the tail as she did so. The mass then started being woven into a thread as if it was being unrolled from the top. The tread then started to form itself into a ribbon right in front of her eyes.
The pressure soon stopped as the last of the light disappeared and the ribbon dropped into the palms of her hands, as a large sense of guilt quickly assaulted her mind.
'This... was too much...'
She looked back at the two girls only to see them both lightly trembling at the sight of her.
"Monster...."
The words that came from Lily's mouth struck deep into her heart, confirming her guilt once again.
"R- Right..."
She finally stood up in a wobbly manner.
As if she was a drunkard she passed the two huddled girls and walked towards the backyard. This time as she snuck out from the small hole, she managed to see a large group of elf-orcs that stood readily outside the front of the smithy. She decided to continue sneaking through the backstreets of the nice village until she had gotten far enough away.
While sneaking about she felt sad about what had happened, but couldn't help but to simply carry on. As she ran through the dark backstreets, she looked at the pitch black ribbon that lied in her hands and started to tie up her long and dirty cherry pink hair.
"That wasn't worth it... I don't think..."
