Chapter 9: Party time?

Naomi's POV

The first week of over, which meant that summer had officially ended. But my fellow school mates were in denial, so their having a second end of summer party.

As I sat cross legged on my yoga mat reading my book, I couldn't but glance at Riley and she fidget and fiddle her thumbs. No doubt she wanted to know if Dave was working tonight so she can go to the party.

If he is working than she can go without asking. If not she has to come up with a good last minute excuse that'll convince him to let her go. But. If she just flat out ask him if he's working tonight he'll figure out she's up to something.

And if she doesn't stop fidgeting soon, he's still going to find out something's up.

"Hey Dave."

"Yeah?"

"How are things going at the hospital?" I ask nonchalantly.

I shocked expression took over Riley's face as Dave smiled at my question.

"We've been doing great, it's a bit busy these days but we haven't lost anyone in a few days." His smile grew as he spoke.

"Wow, that's amazing dad. I'm proud of you." Riley butts in.

"Thanks sweetheart." He says as she leans over to hug him.

"Even though you didn't say I know your proud of me too." He says winking at me.

"Of course I am." Tell him with a smile. Why wouldn't I be proud, he's saving countless lives.

I wait a few seconds before I ask my next question.

"Do you think the ER is gonna be busy tonight?"

"Doubt that, it's a Saturday and you teens are crazy. I'm hoping I don't get called in but it's more than likely that I will be." He let's out a long sigh while letting his head hang over the back of the couch with his face to the ceiling.

"Well, good luck. And you your best." I say making eye contact with Riley, I give her a cyet nod before rolling up my mat, ditched my book for my phone and headed outside.

Since it was still early in the morning the air was a bit chilly, just the way I liked it.

I rolled out the mat under the tree, set my timer and started to meditate. When I was done I started my usual free yoga class.

My mind suddenly went back to early this week and the events that happened in the hallway.

Those girls were so quick to judge me and call me a slut. They don't even know what really happened.

I suddenly hear a wolf whistle, which pulls me out of my thoughts.

I look up to find Hero watching me with a sly look on his face.

"I had no idea you had moves like that."

"Shut up and leave you pervert." I spat angrily without thinking, I quickly cover my mouth instantly regretting it.

Hero looked genuinely surprised by my sudden outburst. But he quickly covered his reaction with a smirk.

"If your that wound up about something you should just get laid. Yoga can't always cure your frustration"

"What?" I ask.

"Go get lai-

"I know what you meant!" I quickly cut him off before he could finish his sentence, he let out a light chuckle at my reaction to is words.

"Aren't you Asians supposed to super innocent or something?"

"Who said all of us were?" He replies with a naughty look on his face and a smirk that irritated me for some reason.

I stay quiet not knowing how to respond to his words. Noticing my discomfort he tries to ease it.

"You don't have to take everything so seriously, I was just messing with you." He says with small smile.

After that we stayed quiet for awhile as he sat on the grass and watched me, I felt very self conscious and wanted to and run for my room. But I didn't want to cut my routine short because of him.

It didn't help that he was watching my every move intently.

"So, are you coming to the party tonight?" Hero asks out of nowhere.

"No."

"Why not?"

"I have plans."

"With who."

"None of your business."

"Is it a date?"

"Why do care?"

"I don't. Just curious."

"Then stop being curious, its annoying." I mumble.

"Suit yourself." He says getting up and stalking away.

I quickly finish up my routine and headed back to my room. I started up my PC and went straight to the website where the book series will go on sale tonight.

I get started the assignments I got this week, its only the first week and some of the teachers already gave us multiple projects.

Even though it was still I check the website every half an hour or so, just incase. Time seemed to of sped up when I wasn't paying attention and soon outside started to get dark. See this I decided to take a break and head downstairs.

Riley was on the couch binge watching one of her many series while uncle Dave was in the kitchen making dinner.

"Hey! Great timing. I was just about to call you down since dinner's almost ready." Dave says as soon as he notices me.

"I'll set the table."

"Great, when your done can you go get Hero?'"

"Why?" I ask confused.

"His mom got called back in so he's having dinner with us." Dave tells me nonchalantly.

"You and his mom have gotten really close in just two weeks. Is there a reason for that?" I say playfully narrowing my eyes at him.

"What's that supposed to mean?" He asks with a weird laugh.

"Oh nothing." I say in a playful tone.

"So you're not going to tell me?" He asks but I don't reply.

I quickly set the table then jog, more like taxes walk, across the street to Hero's house. I bang on the door and ring the doorbell for a really long time before the doir finally swung open.

"What the hell is thos about? I thought someone was trying to break in." Hero says with a mop stick in his hand.

I suddenly burst out laughing at him and the look on his face.

"I'm sorry." I barely say between laughs, he simply stands there not saying a word, just watching me. When I finally sober up and he puts the mop stick down I tell him that dinner is ready and we head back across the street to my house.

"Why don't you just take my number and call next time." He suggested and I obliged him.

As soon as we walk through the door Riley starts eyeing us suspiciously. I go back into the kitchen while Hero joins her on the couch.

We were about halfway through dinner when uncle Dave's pager started going off.

"I'm sorry girls, it looks like I'm gonna have to in after all." He says standing up from the table.

"I'll make you a plate to go." I offer.

"Thanks sweety."

"How about one for Hero's mom as well." Riley adds.

"That's a great idea." Dave says smiling proudly at us.

I quickly made the dishes, packing them neatly in separate lunch boxes for them.

"I'll go grab her favorite tea to go with that." Hero says rushing out of the house.

When uncle Dave left we quietly finished our food and went our separate ways.

Hero went back to his house, I went back to my room while Riley started getting ready for the party.

I watched as outside got darker and darker and the music from Riley's room got louder and louder. Soon her friends where dropped off at our house by who u assumed was on of their mom's.

I watched through my window, form dark room as they all got into Riley's car alone with Hero.

I guess that's the life of a normal teenager, right.

Getting dressed in skimpy outfits and going to a new party every weekend with your friends while still managing to maintain a good grades.

Not for me though, my entire life has been the farthest from normal.

Deciding not to dwell on it, I take my meds then sit in front of my computer.

Only four more hours until to books go on sale.

This is what a normal weekend is like for someone with my condition.
