I'm Not A Bad Guy

"uh... im a big fan?" Drystan said in a questioning tone of voice.

Batman just stood there and stared Drystan down before moving past him to check on his unconcious protege.

After seeing that Robin was okay he held some smelling salts under Robins nose that made him wake up instantly.

Robin started looking around confused before he remembered what happened and tried to explain that he was sneak attacked and taken off guard.

Batman just ignored him and Drystan and walked to Barbara and spoke using his same intimidating deep tone of voice "Explain"

Barbara proceeded to tell Batman how she knew Drystan, how he claimed to find out she was the Oracle, and how he knocked out Robin.

"He didn't knock me out he just surprised me for a minute." Robin tried to explain getting a look from everyone in the room.

Drystan couldn't help but say "You know that Batman had to wake you up after he got here right?"

Robin looked around before he gave up and sat on the floor with a sigh.

Drystan was surprised he gave up on defending his pride so fast. He had remembered Robin being more brash and unyielding.

Then again all he knows about robin comes from the show Teen Titans that he watched a little bit of when he was a kid.

After Barbara finished explaining and Robin stopped pouting Batman turned to Drystan to ask questions.

The majority of the questions he asked were things Barbara already told him like whats his name, or how he found out she was the Oracle.

Then Batman started asking the good questions "Why did you come here?"

"I alrea-"

"The real answer"

Drystan thought about how he should word his response to garner a positive response before deciding that he should be honest.

Well semi honest as the real reason was to meet heroes but he gave Batman his second reason.

"I was worried." Drytan said while looking back and forth between Batman and Barbara.

"She is in a wheelchair. It's not safe for her to be doing this." Drystan genuinely thought this and was worried.

Barbara hearing him say this, although knowing he was thinking about her safety, felt like she was being looked down on.

"Its safe enough, and I can handle myself just fine." Barbara said.

"No you cant. If I was a villain i could have easily killed you before Batman got here."

Looking at her face Drystan could tell that she disagreed and continued arguing "Even your average criminal could have come in here with a gun to deal with you if someone found out you were here because you have no physical defenses in place."

"Barbara, you don't need to be here, it's not safe"

"Shut up kid" Batman said while glaring at Drystan.

Drystan looked over at Barbara and saw that at some point while he was scolding her she had started crying.

With tears going down her face Barbara looked at Drystan said to him "Every night when i come here there is someone out there that wouldn't have been saved if I didn't direct someone their way. When my friends are confronting a criminal, I can make sure that they do it in a way that save more lives while risking their own less, and Every Night i'm in here i know it's easier for them to be out there. So i know that they Do NEED ME!" Barbara started yelling towards the end of her speech as she started to cry harder.

Drystan saying that she didn't need to be here really hit her hard as she was still new to being the Oracle and was trying to be of some worth to her team.

Drystan realizing what happened spoke up "Barbara" he said softly.

"I didn't mean to say you aren't needed." He took a deep breath before saying "Barbara disability is a matter of perception, if you can do just one thing well, you will be needed by someone."

"I wasn't saying that they don't need you" Drystan said while pointing at her. He then pointed to the ground "They just don't need you here."

Drystan didn't want her to feel unneeded or unwanted, he didn't even want to make her stop be the Oracle, he just wanted her to be safe while doing it.

Looking at barbara who was looking at the ground with tears dripping from her eyes Drystan said "Barbara look at me."

She looked up and stare at him with puffy eyes, Drystan then said "I don't have any friends."

The three people in the room were surprised to hear him say that as two of them were around him frequently and thought he was easy to get along with.

"I have never been a very engaging type of person. While growing up I was very selfish and focused on improving myself. When someone tried to approach me if they didn't bring any benefit I would scorn them and if they did I would discard them after obtaining that benefit."

"So I wanted to let you know that I don't care if you want to help people, but as one of the only people I actually wish to be friends with, if you do I want to move you to a more secure location than an old building with a chain lock."

What Drystan said was true, in the past he was an arrogant and conniving person. It wasn't until he experienced death that he started caring a little more about the people around him.

Even then he is trying to use them for his benefit and being slightly manipulative.

Afterall, Batman would investigate him harder after this meeting is over and they would quickly find out this information so its better to be upfront about it.

He looked over and saw Batman have a quick look of shame before returning to his normal scowl.

Drystan was sure that Batman was the one who let her work from the clock tower as it was owned by him.

It really surprised him that Batman would do such a thing because he is usually so paranoid that he would have put up more defenses than needed.

The mood was getting kind of somber before Robin "I feel like this is an episode of Docter Phil." said while chewing on some twizzlers.

"Where did you even get those?" Drystan asked showing some shame on his face as even though it was on purpose he was being quite dramatic.

"I got a snack pocket."

"Batman your sidekick is using up space on his utility belt for snacks." Drystan teased in a tattling voice.

Batman looked over and took at a notebook and started writing "Snacks and Knocked out hmmm... "

Robin grimaced then glared at Drystan with a thirst for vengeance.

Before he could do anything though Batman looked at Drystan and said "If you tell anyone about her identity" he then picked up a metal bar and bent it "I will make sure you know the true meaning of the word pain."

Drystan stared at him for a moment before saying "Isn't that against your hero code"

".....No" he said while glaring harder at Drystan.

Drystan was pretty sure it was but he wasn't going to call Batman out on it as he continued to threaten Drystan in a variety of ways before they threw him out of the building and locked the door.

......They do realize that he already got passed this door once right?

He wasn't going to question it and went home as he had already accomplished todays goal of making contact with the darkside.

Drystan took one last look at the clock tower before heading home happy with how things went.
