Chapter 17

I was about to wish them both a wonderful day so I can inspect the property when some stranger waltz in a demanded that I handover the mythical compass. Angharad stared to laugh as she admired me. I on the other asked him if the compass was his grandma's property left to him in her will. This made everyone in the lobby to start laughing. They seemed amused that he had the nerve to demand it. The compass carries a curse. If a person is deviant then the compass will direct them to a prison to remain till death. He didn't care about the consequences. All he wanted was to hold on to an artifact with power. Angharad reminded him that the compass won't stay behind a pane of glass. It needs to be used so it will disappear the moment it is placed there. The guy didn't care he kept yelling at me and I asked security to remove him. The fox waved her hand to stop them and asked for my consent to remove him. I gave it to her and she transformed into a werewolf and the man ran away. Angharad was laughing the entire time. She said today really made her day.

They both wished me an adventurous day and disappeared. I on the other hand inspected the property before getting dressed to entertain my guests. Soon it was dinner time. People flock the huge hall will Aztec and other Amazonian painting. The wall had holes from which sat a flame shaped like a rose. The tables were arranged facing a stage where a faeries were singing. Her spouse a Drekavac was lost in her melodious voice. The guests applauded as she finished and then I heard a bang.

I came out to see Perseus had a fire spirit with him. He was four feet tall made from blue and green flames. His hair resembles a bonfire. He hurling balls of fire that seems to dissipate before it reaches my sanctuary. He was yelling in ancient Greek and after some time he and his forces tried to barge in. I simply said no entry and they were struck with lightning bolts. They had no choice but to retreat. This was observed by the other guests who were checking out. They must have said something because soon I had mythical creatures coming out my ears. All of them came with the desire  to feel safe. Creatures from both sides settled around Montezuma (What I name this place) in hopes of finding peace and living out their days without hassle.

William arrived as did the council. I had to set up a room for them to do their business but I made it clear that this is neutral zone so no funny business. I made it clear that whatever animosity they had with each other stays outside and they will work together while they are inside or they can leave. This was the rule I laid out before letting them in. They gave their consent and they settled in their quarters. While I inspected the place for flaws in security. I imagined myself as the bad guy and tried to figure out what they would do. The next thing that came to mind was digging so I had the elves place a hex so no one can dig their way in.

Some mythical creatures settled in the trees within the estate limits while others chose to be employed. I had no trouble finding people ready to work. Soon Perseus came back with a water spirit. She tried to flood the place but I had already thought of that a few months ago so the trees simply absorbed the water and the place was bone dry. Perseus summon a banshee to hurt everyone. Drekavac came forward and screamed to counter her. Soon the banshee ran out of breath and passed out. Perseus ran away again. This time I wasn't going to allow him so I asked the wood nymphs to wrap the vines around him and pulled him back.

As he ran the ground cracked a little and vines came out and wrapped themselves around him. The other person was busy carrying an unconscious banshee so they didn't care. Perseus called out but nobody came to rescue him. He was dragged to the courtyard where he was placed in a cage. He was dragged in and people cheered. They had less to fear now. But no sooner we got him in. A guest destroyed the cage and sprung him out. I clapped my hand the doors closed. They tried all exits but they couldn't get out. The woman saw the black pool and dragged Perseus towards it but I stomped my feet and a huge stone disk covered the pool. Perseus and the criminal accomplice was trapped. I explained that he came here of his own free will but he will leave with my permission.

The council applauded as they brought the tools to detain them both. For Perseus they brought a thin chain it had the width of a human hair. The moment they flung it the thin hair like chain glowed silver and wrapped itself around him. The more he struggled the stronger the chains got. As for the woman she got a ruby necklace. It looked more like a chocker. When she tried to use her gifts the pendant began to glow red and the fireballs she threw swung back and attacked her instead. After three tries she fell to her knees. She was taken to the detention area which happens to be the next room.

William was smiling as I walked past him. I gave him a wink and walked towards the council. They thanked me and sat to talk about what must be done to restore balance. Perseus was dragged kicking and screaming to the bowels of Montezuma. He was saying something that I had no clue. I met Zuni and gave her a hug and placed both her hands on my face. She got to see that Perseus was now no longer a problem. She gave me what could be described as a smile. It would have frighten me if I saw this a few years ago but now I like it. She hugged me back and I think she went to find her daughter.

I sat on the swing to watch the birds fly above as I swung back and forth. William came to talk and Drakov went territorial on him. I asked him if it was possible for me to be in the dragon verse and still marry William. The answer was no. These are beings that doesn't settle for half. I tried to reason with them but they want the full package. After an intense staring contest they went their separate ways. I wish they would get along but for some reason they seemed to hate each other. Spending time with them will be a challenge. I heard a bang and ran to find out. Perseus managed to get out of the chains and tried to run. I waved my hands and the roots of the trees wrapped themselves around him and one of the vines began to bud. A few dozen buds came out and soon they bloomed to resemble hot pink lilies. The moment they grew to a suitable size they burst open and let out pollen which put Perseus to sleep. When he was subdued he was moved back to his cell.
