We need to talk
I stare down at my phone anticipating her reply but none came. I sigh and type again
Let's meet up at the coffee shop next to the park.
Aria: My parents would never let me go anywhere especially not without bodyguards.
I shook my head as I typed back
Scott: They'll let you come if you tell them it's me, and your bodyguards can be with you, I don't care. Tomorrow at 8.
Aria: Ok.
She was a typical rich girl, I did kind of sound like a jerk but I couldn't help it. I needed to figure out my situation with Aria before finally talking to Kelly.
"Scott can I come in?" mum knocked
"Sure mum!"
She walked into the room and sniffed the air before scrunching up her face "Ugh it reeks In here"
I scoffed and sat up to open the windows, my mum is basically OCD even though she will never admit it to anyone.
"Did you need something?"
She smiled at me "Yes well I wanted to talk to you about Aria"
I nodded and gestured for her to sit even though she's eyeing my bed like it has poop on it. She chose the sofa instead and I walked towards it to sit with her too.
She searched my face "So?"
I was confused "So what?"
" Well since your dad never fills me in about your talks I never know anything, do you like her?"
I shrug "I just met her mum"
Mum nods "Right but she's cute right?"
I groan "Mum!"
She grins and grabs my cheek "You do think she's cute, I saw the way you looked at her"
I pulled back and rubbed my cheeks with my fingers. I swear my mother acts like a teenager sometimes.
I nodded "Yes she's pretty mum but I will like to know her better before giving a judgment"
Mum nods "Fair enough" she grabs my hand "I just want you to be happy sweetheart and I'm hoping Aria can give you that happiness"
"I will be mum, as long as you and dad and Evie are happy then I am too"
She smiles and stands up "Well dinner will be ready in a bit, I'll call you down later" she kisses my cheek and walks out.
I grab my phone and shoot Jackson a text, he's probably at work right now.
Jackson is my best friend, I met him at an event one day, he was a waiter. He didn't really walk around much though, a lot of people didn't want a black person serving their food. Yeah Jackson is black. Anyway since I was bored and he wasn't really working much, we got talking and I got to know he loves basketball too so we made a date to meet up and play. We tied but have been inseparable ever since. He's the only person I know who isn't friends with me because we're rich. My phone beeps and I look at it
Jack: You're an idiot bro
Me: Why?
Jack: Because you want to play 2 girls at the same time.
Me: I'm not playing anybody.
Jack: Oh really? You have a girlfriend and your marriage is fixed to another girl!
Me: I don't know what to do.
Jack: Tell your parents the truth!
Me: We both know that is not an option.
Jack: Then you better tell Kelly the truth.
Me: That option doesn't look tempting either.
Jack: Well then I don't know what to tell you, you better not get your ass into more trouble.
Me: I'm meeting her for coffee tomorrow.
Jack: The fiance?
Me: Shut up dude.
Jack: Aight, but when shit happens I'll say I told you so.
Me: I'll handle it.
Jack: That's what you always say,you better not end up doing something stupid.
Me: When have I ever done something stupid?
Jack: Shut up. How's Evie by the way?
I roll my eyes and drop my phone on the bed, Evie has had this obsession with Jackson since I met him. She had a major crush on him and it was obvious he liked her too. I warned him to stay away until she was of age and now that she turned eighteen he's always asking about her.
"Scott dinner!" Evie yelled.
I walk downstairs and see mum setting the table with the maids. Evie is seated on a stool on her phone. I walked to her and nudged her "Hey"
She looked up at me "Yeah?"
"Heard from Jack yet?"
She pouted and shook her head "No he's not replying to any of my texts"
I chuckled and ruffled her hair "Well that's good"
She pouted "I just don't get it, I'm 18 now so what's the matter?"
"The matter is that you're too young for a boyfriend" Dad replied walking down the stairs.
"But-"
"No buts! Jackson is 23 years old Evie, and that's too old for you"
Evie rolled her eyes "You're 9 years older than mum and yet you married her"
Dad chuckled "Age didn't matter then"
Evie folded her arms "Well it doesn't matter now either, Jackson likes me and I like him. he's just waiting for your consent which I don't know why you haven't given him!"
I shook my head with a smile " You're my baby sister and he's my best friend"
"So? All the more reason you should give consent! You trust him more than anyone and you know he wouldn't hurt me"
I shook my head and decided not to give her a reply because she was right. I knew Jackson was the best choice for Evie,he liked her and would keep her safe but I wouldn't admit it, Evie's mouth is too smart.
"Would you stop bickering and come to the table so we can eat?" mum asked.
We all settled around the table and mum said the grace before we started eating. After dinner I said goodnight to everyone and went up to my room. I changed my clothes and slipped into bed, instead of trying to get some sleep I kept replaying how my meeting with Aria is going to turn out tomorrow.
