Gu Yuzhen Was Drugged

Ming Qu was on the balcony of her room on the second floor. She watched as Gu Yuzhen got into his car and left before dialing him.

"There's a reason for this. I hope Mr. Gu can forgive me."

The person on the other end of the line did not respond. There was only the soft sound of his breathing.

After a while, she figured that Gu Yuzhen had no intention of speaking. Just as she was about to hang up, he spoke in a low voice. "Do you have any concerns?"

"Don't worry about it."

"I can help you."

"I don't need help."

"Ming Qu, I've chased you all the way back here, I must protect you as well."

Hearing this, Ming Qu felt her eyes heat up.

Back when she was in France, she had experienced clearly what it felt like to be cared for.

She did not speak for a long time. The person on the other end grew a little impatient.

"What's wrong? Were you touched by what I said?"

At those words, Ming Qu cried tears of joy and quietly wiped away her tears.

She had been destined to be unlucky from birth.

She had not expected to meet this man, who she had once thought of as cold and uncaring, in her most dire moment.

"I can tell that Ming Lai is interested in you, so... Gu Yuzhen... I want to ask you for a favor."

Immediately after she had spoken, she hung up decisively and sent him a text message.

However, he returned the call. "I don't discriminate between men and women. Anyone who troubles me will not bode well."

"I know that you'd be no short of tricks to do so, but wouldn't it be too cheap to simply kill with a single stab?"

"So what do you want to do?"

"Listen to me."

The call ended. Ming Qu raised her head to look at the dark night sky, a relieved smile resting on her face.

Gu Yuzhen moved quickly, despite having been busy during the daytime.

When Ming Qu received the call, she had just finished a surgery, saving a life that had been on the brink of death.

"I'll be waiting for you at the entrance of the hospital."

"I'll leave immediately after changing."

Less than ten minutes after the call had ended, a petite figure emerged from the entrance of the hospital.

Her delicate and fair face was coated by a layer of soft, gentle light under the setting sun.

She entered straight into the passenger seat, turning around to ask Gu Yuzhen, "How is it?"

"Are you underestimating my strength?"

Gu Yuzhen raised an eyebrow, his eyes full of amusement.

Ming Qu had always thought that he was a stiff and serious man. She had not expected that this meeting would actually alter her perception of him.

This was in line with the saying, "The people who love you and the people who do not can easily be distinguished from afar".

It was eight o'clock in the evening. Ming Qu was seated in the lobby of the first floor of a hotel as she watched Ming Lai appear at the door, dressed in an enchanting outfit.

She took a quick glance at the time and waited for Ming Lai to get into the elevator. She then took out her phone, making a call.

Ming Lai had been invited in the name of Gu Yuzhen, but she had not written off Ming Lai as being completely brainless.

After all, to achieve the position of general manager in a family as large as theirs could not only be attributed to her status as the eldest daughter.

There was a restaurant located on the top floor of the hotel, as well as places to rest.

Originally, they had planned to have Gu Yuzhen accompany that woman for a meal. Upon returning to Ming Lai's room, they would find a gigolo that Ming Qu had set up beforehand, humiliating Ming Lai. However, they had never expected that the plan would fall apart.

After a while, Ming Qu grew quite flustered, and could no longer quietly wait downstairs for Gu Yuzhen to come down

Just as she reached the top floor, she spotted Ming Lai carrying Gu Yuzhen to an elevator.

She had first thought that this was a setup by Gu Yuzhen, so she trailed closely behind, ready to snap incriminating photos at any time. However, as she left the elevator, she realized that Gu Yuzhen didn't seem to be faking. He was leaning against Ming Lai, and his footsteps were weak. He wasn't walking properly.

Could it be...

Alarm bells rang in Ming Qu's head.

She watched as Ming Lai propped him up, swiping her card into one of the suites.

She couldn't wait any longer and quickly followed them into the room.

Ming Lai helped Gu Yuzhen onto the bed. Just as she had bent down, beginning to unbutton his shirt, her head sank abruptly and she fell to the side.

Ming Qu threw down the heavy object in her hand. She couldn't care less. She approached Gu Yuzhen, wanting to wake him up. However, before she could get close, the man on the bed slowly sat up.

"... didn't you..."

"She put something in my drink."

Gu Yuzhen opened his mouth, his voice hoarse and raspy.
